In the middle of the forest, there are two wanted signs for thieves by the names of Flynn Rider and Y/n L/n.

F: "This is the story of how I died."

Y: "You're alive right now."

F: "If you would let me continue, I will get to it. But don't worry, this is actually a very fun story, and the truth is, it isn't even ours."

Y: "This is the story of a girl named Rapunzel."

In the clouds, there is a drop of sunlight that falls to the ground and from it grew a magic golden flower.

F: "And it starts with the sun. Now, once upon a time, a single drop of sunlight fell from the heavens."

Y: "And from this small drop of sun grew a magic, golden flower. It had the ability to heal the sick and injured."

From the bushes, emerged an old woman with her green lantern.

F: "Oh, you see that old woman over there? You might want to remember her. She's kind of important."

Y: "And creepy."

Hundreds of years pass, and as they do, a kingdom grows. Inside the castle was the heavily pregnant queen on her bed. She was very sick.

F: "Well, centuries passed, and a hop, skip, and a boat ride away, there grew a kingdom. The kingdom was ruled by a beloved king and queen. And the queen, well she was about to have a baby, but she got sick. Really sick."

Y: "She was running out of time and that's when people start to look for a miracle. Or in this case, a magic golden flower."

Boats of people dock at somewhat foreign land
to try and find a miracle that could possibly save their beloved queen. In which they find a magic, golden flower. With the miracle flower, the elder woman unveils her hood and uncovers the flower's special basket that she made to keep it hidden.

F: "Ah! I told you she'd be important."

Y: "And as I said before, creepy."

F: "You see instead of sharing the sun's gift, this woman, Mother Gothel, hoarded its healing power and used it to keep herself young for hundreds of years. And all she had to do was sing a special song."

G: "Flower, gleam and glow
      Let your power shine
      Make the clock reverse
Bring back what once was mine
      What once was mine"

As Gothel sings to the flower, her signs of aging melt away and her youth is restored. Her frizzy, grey hairs turn back to her natural, black hair. Her wrinkles and moles on her skin are gone and in its place is younger skin. Her eyes also seem to have gotten brighter and her voice is no longer the old, raspy woman, but a young, smooth voiced woman.

Y: Alright you get the gist. She sings to it, turns young. Creepy, right?

In the forest behind her, the guards are getting closer and closer to Gothel and the flower. She puts her basket over the flower, but unknowingly knocks it over with her green lantern as she disappears into the forest. The guards emerge and see the glowing flower and start to have hope.

"We found it!"

They dig the flower and it's roots out of the ground as Gothel watches from the bushes. She glares at them for taking away her source of youth. They quickly bring it back to the castle, and put the flower in warm water for the queen to drink. And as they had hoped...

F: "The magic of the golden flower healed the queen."

After some time, a baby girl with a full head of golden hair was laying in a crib staring and giggling at her baby chandelier that had a chameleon, a duck, a white horse, a blue bird, and an angel with a bow and arrow hanging from it. In the middle and on the sides was the symbol of the kingdom of Corona. The sun.

Y: "A healthy baby girl, a princess was born, with beautiful, golden hair."

The king and queen, newly father and mother, stand over the crib in joy. The queen grabs her newborn daughter and cuddles her for a moment after seeing the resemblance between them. The similar face shapes and the same, striking, green eyes. The king grabs his daughter's designated crown that she would wear some day and put it on her head, as she giggles. It was still too big for her so it covered her whole forehead and tilted almost over her eye.

Y: "We'll give you a hint. That's Rapunzel. To celebrate her birth, the king and queen launched a flying lantern into the sky."

The lantern had a beautiful design that represented Rapunzel well. Once lit, it glowed a soft yellow and the two sun symbols on the sides became a light purple which became her designated color as well. The king and queen let the lantern go, and it flew high as everyone in the crowd cheered, cheered for Rapunzel.

F: "And for the one moment, everything was perfect. And then that moment ended."

In the middle of the night that same day, Rapunzel was asleep in her crib when a shadow of a figure appeared over her. It was Gothel, who had gone back to her older woman form after not having her source of youth for some time. She came to get what she claimed was hers.

As she sang the incantation, Rapunzel's hair glows a golden color illuminating the crib and the area around her. Gothel goes to grab a piece of her hair and cut it with scissors. The longer she holds it in her hand, the quicker her youth is restored. She smirks as she realizes the power is in the baby's hair. She keeps singing the incantation and cuts the strand of hair. She gasps and drops the strand as the cut piece turns brown, as well as the piece of hair that she cut it from on Rapunzel's head. She stares in shock as her older woman form comes back faster than it left. She then stares down at the baby and realizes that she has to take the child if she wanted to stay young forever.

The king and queen wake up when they hear their daughter crying, only to see an old woman grasping her and disappearing into the night.

F: "Gothel broke into the castle, stole the child, and just like that, gone! The kingdom searched and searched but they could not find the princess. For deep within the forest, in a hidden tower, Gothel raised the child as her own."

As told, in the deep forest, some years later, a hidden tower keeps the princess hidden from the rest of the world as Gothel wants so she can keep her source of youth. Rapunzel now is a young child, has learned the incantation by song, and sings it whenever Gothel asks her to. This is how Gothel became Mother Gothel.

Y: "Gothel had found her new magic flower, but this time, she was determined to keep it hidden."

As Mother Gothel is brushing Rapunzel's longer hair, the child asks a question that would be repeatedly asked for many many years to come. But Gothel would lie to her about how the world is more dangerous than it actually was. And Rapunzel, thinking that this was her mother, believed her.

R: "Why can't I go outside?"

G: "The outside world is a dangerous place, filled with horrible, selfish people. You must stay here, where you're safe. Do you understand, flower?"

R: "Yes, Mommy."

Y: "But the walls of that tower could not hide everything."

Later on that same night, as Mother Gothel was asleep in her room, Rapunzel creeps down the steps, with her long, golden hair dragging behind her, to look out the only window in the tower to see the annual event that would only happen on this day, her birthday.

Y: "Each year on her birthday, the king and queen released thousands of lanterns into the sky in hope that one day their lost princess would return."

Rapunzel stares at the floating lanterns and rests her head on her arms, dreamily wondering when she could ever seem them in person and see where they came from.
