Shattered

3:00 Am

Everybody went to sleep. Everyone except Chapa. She had some unread texts from her friends asking if everything was ok. Bose hadn't told them that there was a police officer at her house, all he told them is that she had a family emergency and needed to go home.

*2 unread messages from Ray and 1 missed call*
*5 unread messages from Bose and 2 missed calls*

She knows she should've answered them but she didn't want to. Not right now,

I have to get up in 5 hours, why do I even have to get up I can just not go to sleep, at least I get to go see dad in the hospital tomorrow... wait there was something else tomorrow what was it? Chapa thought for a second. crap Sunday go-kart day with everyone, I don't wanna go but I wanna distract myself from this. I don't think I should I need to be there for my mom and Sage, they need me right? I think they need me I know it, my fault dads, in the hospital but it's ok, right? Can someone tell me it's alright, please!

Chapa had waves of tears streaming down her face. There was a knock on the door and she quickly wiped the tears from her eye. "Come in," she said and she took a deep breath as the door opened and Sage walked in holding a stuffed bear that her dad got her last year. "I can't sleep" She stated, " can I sleep in your bed?" Chapa patted the empty part of her bed.

Sage laid down cuddling next to Chapa and Chapa wrapped her arms around her little sister " is dad going to be ok?" Chapa ran her fingers through Sage's hair " I don't know, I hope he is" there was silence between the two sisters as they lay in the dark. I hope she doesn't feel what I feel, this feeling the feeling of nothing is horrible. I hate it. Chapa thought " how are you feeling?" she asked. Sage hugged her tighter " I'm really tired, and I miss dad" she stated, Chapa kissed Sage on the forehead "I miss him too, but we get to see him tomorrow." Sage yawned "when we get back can we shoot the bows?" Chapa yawned as well, " ya, of course, it's gonna be ok Sage no matter what happens."

It was now 5 am and Sage had fallen asleep but Chapa was still awake, she knew her insomnia was coming back it had been getting harder and harder to fall asleep. Usually, medicine works but sadly it hasn't been.  She reached for her phone ignoring all her missed texts and calls as she went straight  to the Danger Force Group Chat

Chapa🔥: Hey guys I'm not gonna be going Go-Kart racing got some stuff to do, sorry have a fun

She didn't think she was gonna get a reply so early in the morning but she thought wrong cause not even a minute later her phone went off, Ray had been the first to answer

Ray👴🏼: Is everything ok chapa? you left and Bose said you were kinda panicky

Chapa🔥: Ya everything is fine why are you up so early

Ray👴🏼: I always wake up early to get in the captain man manly workouts in, how else do you think I stay young

Chapa🔥: Why are you up Mika

Mika💨: I woke up cause my neighbors were blasting music right next to my window and I think Ray just stayed up all night watching dog bachelor but Chapa are you ok

Chapa🔥: yes everything is fine I just can't go to go Kart racing but ill be at S.W.A.G Monday 

Ray👴🏼: For your information, Mika Dog bachelor won't let me re-watch any episodes so ha ha to you
