Maggie woke to a pounding on her door, followed by her brother's voice. "Get up or I'm leaving without you!"

She groaned and threw back her covers. "Don't you dare, you twat."

"Cute. Maggie, I mean it. You have five minutes."

She threw on a pair of black leggings and a long purple shirt before putting on and tying her combat boots.

Maggie threw her hair into a ponytail, not caring how messy it was.

"Ten, nine, eight, seven-"

Maggie opened the door and smirked. "Beat you. Again."

Caleb rolled his eyes. "Always seven."

"It's my lucky number. Now let's go before we're late."

"I had to get you up today."

"Maybe it'll be the other way around tomorrow."

"God, I hope not. Get in the car."

"You could ask politely."

"Please, Maggie?"

She smirked as she flicked her hand and the passenger's side door opened.

Caleb glared at her. "And no magic in public. I mean it. If our secret gets out-"

"Yeah, I know. The whole Salem witch thing. But that was hundreds of years ago. I don't think we have to worry about it."

"You never know, Marguerite."

She narrowed her eyes and moved the car forward.

Caleb frowned. "Stop it. Can we just get to school and behave ourselves?"

"I can, we'll see about you."

"You are literally the one causing trouble!"

Maggie grinned as she got in the car and closed the door behind her. "Hurry up, little tortoise."

"Maggie, I will immobilize you."

She huffed and fell silent.

When they reached the school, they parked and got out. Caleb and Maggie went to find their friends.

Scott McCall pulled up on his bike just as Jackson Whittemore opened the door of his Porsche.

"Dude -- watch the paint job," Jackson protested.

"Yo, Jackson, let's go, bro," Danny called. "Hey, Caleb."

"Hey," Caleb replied as he waved to Maggie who waved back.

"Okay, let's see this thing," Stiles Stilinski told Scott who lifted his shirt. "Ooh!"

"Yeah," Scott agreed. "Whoa! It was too dark to see much, but I'm pretty sure it was a wolf."

"A wolf bit you?"

"Uh-huh."

Stiles shook his head. "No, not a chance."

"I heard a wolf howling."

"No, you didn't."

"What do you mean, no, I didn't? How do you know what I heard?"

"Because California doesn't have wolves, okay? Not in like 60 years."

"Really?"

"Yes, really. There are no wolves in California."

Scott frowned. "All right, well, if you don't believe me about the wolf, then you're definitely not gonna believe me about when I tell you I found the body."
