summary!
On the twelfth hour of the first day of October 1989, forty-three women around the world gave birth. This was unusual in the fact that none of these women had been pregnant when the day first began. Sir Reginald Hargreeves, eccentric billionaire and adventurer, resolved to locate and adopt as many of the children as possible.
He got eight of them.
Number Eight but she preferred Minerva was one of those children. She was gifted with pathokinesis: the power to sense and manipulate the emotions of others and just like the other Hargreeves children, her gift can be a curse.
She lived the first fourteen years of her life stuck in a house that seemed more like a tomb than a home all while being under the thumb of her so-called father who treated them more like lab rats than children. In those insufferable fourteen years, Minerva was able to become a part of the Hargreeves' extremely dysfunctional family of misfits, but just like everything in our world, everything must come to an end.
After nearly fifteen years of isolation after a tragic accident, Minerva is welcomed back to the family just after their father dies only to be met with a long-lost boy she never thought she'd get to see again. And with said boy, comes the end of their world as they know it.
Sadly, the Hargreeves don't get much of a break in the next few years, months, or days depending how you look at it, no matter how hard they may try.
