I feel like a horrible author! It's been wayyyyyy too long since I posted a chapter. Honestly, I got busy and didn't have the motivation. BUT, I recently went to Comic Con and spoke with an author. He gave me some really good advice on how to write my book. So, hopefully, it sticks. Here's the new chapter.
Marcus
My gambit paid off. Confronting Tailia head-on was a great idea. She couldn't really say no to me. I mean, she could, but I would just keep bugging her. Both her life and mine depend on me getting close to her. It looks like the only way I'll be able to do it for the time being is to teach her about the supernatural world.
I'm actually meeting with her today. I'm at the library in the back room that I reserved yesterday. She was supposed to be here fifteen minutes ago. I have no idea where that girl is. I'm a pretty punctual person, so I'm a little irked. Just as I'm about to pull out my phone and call her, someone comes pounding through the door.
"I am so so sorry I'm late," I hear her apologize, "I had a family emergency come up this morning." Well, now I feel like an asshole.
"It's alright. I completely understand. You were only fifteen minutes late. No biggy," I respond back.
"You're irritated. I can feel it coming off of you. Let me guess, you're big on punctuality?" she asks.
"Yeah. I am, but I totally get that it was a family emergency. That's why I'm trying not to be upset. TRYING being the operative word," I emphasize.
"I get it. You can't really control your emotions," she says.
"Yeah, well, tell that to my brother. He actually has the ability to control people's emotions. It's one of his powers."
"I was just joking," she says, surprised, "That must be a really cool ability."
I scoff. "It's not all it's cracked up to be. When I get upset about something, the dude thinks it's ok to control my emotions. Especially when we get into a fight. I think the worst is when he tries to control our mom's. After the effects have worn off, he gets in soooo much trouble."
"I can imagine." She gets quiet, and I realize that she's probably contemplating something. I let her sit in thought for a minute before I speak.
"So, do you want to get started?"
"Yes, I do." I hear her pull a chair out and sit down. I hear a zipper and a notebook being flipped. She must be taking notes. Smart girl.
"Ok. First lesson: the different races. There are seven main races in the supernatural world: elves, werewolves, vampires, witches, fairies, nymphs, and dwarfs. I'll start with the top race which are witches. Witches can cast spells, are in covens, are born with three special powers, and have super healing." Her scribbling stops for a second then starts back up again soon after. "Every coven has a lead witch. Lead witches are bonded to a guardian. Then, there are original witches." Her scribbling stops again.
"Original witches?"
"They're immortal. They're the only immortal beings in the supernatural world. Witches like-witches like the dark witch. She's the most powerful and evil witch in the world. There's an old legend. During the switch from The First Dimension to Earth, her brother turned into a vampire. Not knowing how to control his thirst, he drained all of the blood from her first love who was not an original witch. At this point, The Dark Witch had been alive for 200 years. Devastated from what he had done, her brother took his own life using a branch to pierce his chest. Not knowing that he had to pierce his heart, he tried again. This one was closer to his heart so it worked. His body turned to dust and flew away. Heartbroken from losing both her brother and her first love, she became evil. When overtaken by extreme grief, witches have the potential to go dark. The Dark Witch was the first of her kind hence why she's called The Dark Witch."
