Toxic Masculinity

Show no weakness.
Show no fear.
Show no emotion.
Shed no tears.

This is a mantra I repeat in the mirror.

Big girls don't cry and neither do men.
So harden up princess and eat some concrete.
Don't be so soft.
Don't fight like a girl.
Don't cry like a baby.
Grow up.
Don't be a p*ssy.
Grow some balls.
Be a man.

...

This mentality hurts us all.
It tells us that women and children are emotional and that having emotions are wrong.
It tells us that men are above that. That men are more capable of suppressing their emotions.
It tells us that men are stronger than women and children and men who show emotion are weak, weak like a women or child.
But emotions are natural and something we all share.
Our complex emotions are what make us human.
We are strongest when we connect with each other and are open about our feelings.
The term toxic masculinity dosen't mean it's bad to be a man, it means that we are being told it's wrong to be human.
