by the time the fair came, billie had managed to convince me to go to it with her. she still went with her friends on wednesday night, but now it's just me and her. it's friday night, so we can stay out as late as we want and not worry about going to school the next morning.

i looked down, and i picked at the bright orange wristband as i waited for billie to get her's. once she got her's on, she grabbed my hand and abruptly started pulling me with her, which made my eyes widen.

"what do you wanna go on first, mama?" billie asked as she looked over at me. "oh, what about the zipper?"

"you're kidding, right?" i gave her a look. "that ride is infamous for breaking down every year. i'm not getting on it."

"oh, i know it does. i was on it last year when it broke down," she laughed. "it's still fun though. come on, please, ride it with me?"

i still looked at her like she was crazy. "hell no," i shook my head. "anyways, shouldn't we start off with something more... simple?" i gulped as i looked at all of the rides.

"wait, are you scared?" she asked in a teasing tone.

"no," i scoffed.

"yeah, you are," she laughed. "don't worry, baby, i'll be right there with you."

"i'm not scared," i grumbled.

"right. well, i guess we could start off with..." she trailed off as she looked around. "what about the yo-yo? you cool with that?"

"yeah, sure," i nodded.

she smiled, then lead me over to the yo-yo, where we got in line. billie, of course, talked the whole time we waited. i listened intently with a stupid, small smile on my lips.

when we eventually got on the ride and it got going, billie kicked the back of my seat. i turned around, and i looked at her.

"yo, stop," i narrowed my eyes.

"stop what?" she tilted her head, then smirked as she kicked my seat again and asked "stop that?"

"yes. quit it."

"why?" she kicked it again.

"'cause i said to," i huffed.

she kicked it again, though this time the ride operator saw her and told her to knock it off. her face flushed embarrassedly, while i laughed.

her feet kicked my chair again though, and i turned to look at her again. her eyes widened. "that time was an accident, i swear!"

"better have been," i flipped her off before i faced forward again.

"i think i'ma gonna throw up," i mumbled as me and billie got off of the gravitron.

billie took my hand in her's again, like she's been doing for most of the night. "seriously?" she laughed. "it wasn't even that bad."

"yes, it was," i muttered. "i don't see how your crazy ass went upside down on it!"

"'cause it's fun. we should go on it again so you can try it," she grinned.

"hell. no," i shook my head. i stuffed my hand that she wasn't holding, into my pocket. "is it just me, or did it get way colder than it was before we got on the gravitron?"

"uh... just you," she snickered. she looked up at me with furrowed brows though. "are you cold? you can wear my hoodie, if you are."

my brows furrowed too. "are you sure? don't you need it?"
