Prologue Part 2

"Family is supposed to be our safe place. But often, it's the place where we find the biggest heartaches"

4 YEARS LATER

The young Romano twins woke up excited that morning. They had decided they were gonna ask their father to take them to get ice cream with her older brothers.

Meanwhile, the other Romanos were sitting in their dad's office.
They had been receiving threats towards their little princess from the rival mafias since she was born and it was getting too much now, they didn't want their little girl to get hurt so their father came up with a sad and painful decision to send her to foster care. They all disagreed with it but they knew it was the best thing to do to keep her safe.

Their father took a deep breath, trying to keep his composure before speaking "I think the best way to do this is to make her feel like she's unwanted here, so she doesn't put up a fight or try to come back to us." hearing that all of the brothers began arguing and protesting, saying they couldn't do that to their baby sister.
"We'll get her back once we deal with the threats. She'll understand that we did this to protect her." Their father spoke again with a final tone, leaving the brothers no room to protest.

After that a minutes passed in silence, all the Romanos were sitting in their chair with pain and sadness in their eyes for what they had to do, but they were determined to do any thing it takes to keep the young mafia princess safe.
Just then the office door burst open and in came the twin with the biggest smiles on their faces.
"Daddy, can we all go to get ice cream?"
Aria asked looking up at her dad
"Pleaseeee" both of the twins said at the same time.

"No, you spoilt brat get out of my sight and go pack your bags Aria, you're leaving this house." Her father yelled at her, starting the plan.

Aria and Levi were shocked, no one has ever talked to her that way, their smiles dropped and tears started to fill her eyes.

Leaving? Leaving to where?
She thought to herself

"What did I do?" She asked letting the tears fall out.
"Ugh your such a baby, get out of our sights" Vincenzo, her 2nd oldest brother said
"We hate you" Alex said
"Your the reason mom died"
"If you weren't born mom would've still been alive" Giovanni said and the other brothers agreed.

By now Levi was hugging Aria as they both cried, he was yelling at them to stop but they wouldn't listen.

Aria took a deep breath, wiped her tears off with her sleeve,
"Fine, I'm sorry." She said with a cold voice and a blank face, walking out of the room with her twin.

That day. That was the day the light in Aria's eyes disappeared.

When she was packed and ready to go, she went outside the front door where her 'family' was waiting for her
She went straight to her other half, hugging him tightly, and promised to never forget him.

After that, she went straight to the car that was gonna take her to a foster home, without so much as a glance at the other things standing near her twin looking at her.

Since that day, all of the Romanos changed. They might have thought they were protecting their little girl but in reality they were sending her off to deal with the cruel & horrible world all alone.
