Madeline Love

Being wrapped in the puffy silk duvet felt like a cloud as I woke up. The light through the dark curtains shined lightly as it looked to be cloudy out today, but the storm had finally passed

I didn't want to move from the comfortable position I was in. But I knew I'd have to soon, I should probably go for a run, get my energy going again before finishing the drive back.

My phone buzzed which signaled that I had service and I groaned knowing I'd have to move to see who texted. I took a deep breath in slow movements to grab my phone just enough to not leave the comfort of my portion fully "ah hah!" The phone slipped perfectly into my hand as I snuggled further into the sheets

Sloan: bitch where the hell are you?

Did you get lost?

Lila are you safe?

Please text me back I'm worried!

Don't make me call your mother!

That's it I'm calling your mother!!

She said she doesn't know where you are and your not home. I told you to ride back with me or wait out the storm!

Text me if you get this I'm worried.

Oh god she texted my mother. I just know she's breaking down and the thought of what my father would do if he found her crying again. My stomach churned to disgust at the thought

Me: I'm fine, I stopped somewhere for the night because the roads were bad- I just got service.

I couldn't tell her the truth of where I was. She'd flip out along with my mother. I had five missed calls from her, oh dear lord

Sloan: thank god you scared me. Are you safe?

Me: yes mom, I should be back later!

Sloan: sorry I care for your safety? Text your actual mom!

I sighed switching the contact. Though I hated how much of a helicopter mom she was of me at times, I also really appreciated it. My eyes glance to the time in the corner of my phone 7:32

Why the fuck was Sloan up at anytime near seven in the morning, she was a nine in the morning riser. She was the farthest person from a morning one. One time she slept an entire twenty six hours and if I hadn't bursted through her bedroom door, it would've been longer.

Numerous texts from my mother flooded my phone. Shit I really fucked up, but I had no service. My eyes watered at the thought of the possibility of any harm that couldn't happened towards my mother. My father hates crying.

Me: I'm safe mom, stopped for the night due to weather. I had no service, so sorry for the late text. I'll be back on campus later today

I followed up with a picture of me giving a thumbs up before she could ask of proof of me being okay. She hearted the image within a matter of seconds

Mom: okay hon, no worries as long as your safe!

She didn't follow up with a photo back signaling he must've heard her and she didn't want me to see. I know it's wrong to say, but I hated my dad. He wasn't very present a lot and he cheated on my mom but she never left him.
