"I'm not saying you're bad company, I'm just wondering why Steve hasn't come to pick me up yet."
It was late afternoon and Monica was still stuck at the boathouse with Eddie. There'd been no contact from the others since Steve dropped her off yesterday. Although she didn't want to admit it, it really wasn't that bad being stuck with Eddie.

Talking about the most random things with him took her mind off all the chaos unfolding around them. He never mentioned Chrissy, he knew it would just upset off. He was simply just trying to cheer her up. And she was doing the same. Besides, being a suspect for murder can't be the best feeling in the world.

"Anyway, I want to hear about your club." Monica sat up.
"My club?"

"Yeah," She nodded. "Your hellfire club." She pointed to his t-shirt.
"Have you ever played D&D?" He asked and Monica shook her head. "Well, it's a medieval fantasy game. I really don't think it'll be your kind of thing." He explained and let out a chuckle.
"Why would you think that?" She furrowed her eyebrows at him.

"I've seen you, Monica," Eddie sighed. "You hang out with the basketball team and the cheerleaders. How often do they get together to play their fantasy game?" He scoffed.
"No but, they do get together to play their balls in laundry baskets game."

Eddie shot his head up and turned to look at her with a smirk, hearing his own words repeated back to him.
"You don't fit in with them anyway Monica."

She pulled a face. "I don't fit in?"
"Well for starters, you're the only one who doesn't wear a cheer uniform," He joked. Monica smiled, understanding he never meant it to come across in a bad way. "But seriously, I always see you sat at their table at lunch. I can recognise you from them cute little flower clips you wear in your hair. You don't belong at that table and I mean that in the best way possible."

"It just sounds like you spend a lot of time staring at me Munson." She teased. Eddie just smiled. Of course he noticed her at school, you couldn't miss her, Monica was just too oblivious to other people. She sat with the popular jocks and cheer squad everyday, people knew who she was.

The only reason she never spoke to Eddie, or anyone like Eddie was because their paths just
never crossed.

"You know, if I had to describe you as a song Mackenzie, you're Sweet Child O'Mine by Guns and Roses."
"Well now I need to listen to it." She grinned. For a moment, they were both just sat smiling at one another, until the sound of a vehicle approaching made them both jump up.
"Steve?" Monica asked.
"Shit!" Eddie muttered under his breath, looking out of the window.

Monica raised an eyebrow, walking over next to Eddie and peering out. It wasn't Steve. It was Jason and a couple other members of the team.
"Move, Monica! Don't let them see you." Eddie pushed her away from the window.
"What? Don't let them see you!" She shoved him back.

Eddie sprinted towards the walkie-talkie that had remained silent for the rest of the day.
"Hey Dustin, It's Eddie and Monica. You remember us right?" It was quiet. "Hey if anyones there, I really think we might be in a bit of trouble here! Okay? Wheeler? Anybody?!" He spat, hitting the device with his hand.

Monica snatched the walkie-talkie from his hands. "Calm down Eddie. They obviously aren't there."

He started pacing back and fourth muttering under his breath, Monica couldn't tell what he was saying, but it seemed more like he was talking to himself. She didn't want to show it but she was starting to worry. Who knows what Jason would do if he found Eddie. He thinks he sold drugs to and murdered his girlfriend.

"Okay, I'm going to make sure they don't find you," Eddie placed his hands on her shoulders. "Make sure the don't find us. Just stay quiet, okay?"

Monica nodded. They sat together under the window, looking every now and again but they never left. They tried to reach the group several times but there was still no answer.

Jason and the team searched Reefer Ricks house for what felt like hours. There was traces of food, wrappers and dirty pots scattered around the kitchen. Jason knew Eddie had been here. Two fishermen had seen movement coming from Reefer Ricks house, assuming Rick had been let out of jail. Jason had decided they had to come check the place out.

It soon got dark in the boathouse and Eddie and Monica had barely moved.
"Eddie, we need to get out of here."
"I know that Monica, but how do you suggest we do that?"

Monica stood up, dusting herself off. "Grab an ore and help me pull this boat into the lake."
"You're crazy Mackenzie," he said. "Absolutely mental."

But he did as she said. They worked together to pull the boat to the lake. Eddie helped her in, Monica sitting at the front of the boat, before they both started paddling.

"Hey, Freak!" They both heard. It was Jason.
"Shit!" Eddie muttered. "Do exactly what I say, okay?" He whispered. "Swim to the land over there, don't let Jason see you."

Eddie snatched the ore from her hands and before she knew it she was completely submerged underwater. She quickly swam to the surface, gasping for air, the cold temperature of the water taking her breathe away.
"Where do you think you're going?" Jason shouted.

Monica had never been a fan of water or swimming, but she was determined to get to the land. The rush of adrenaline, and being thrown into the water without a choice, took over and she started to swim as quick as she could.

Eddie was desperately trying to get the engine to work on the boat, but it was no use.

"Hey stay back man. Stay back!" Eddie swung his ore around as Jason and Patrick were in touching distance. Monica had made it to the land and was watching from the side, praying Eddie could get away.

"Come on let's go! We almost have him," Jason shouted to Patrick behind him. "Patrick!" He repeated.

Eddie looked around confused as Patrick disappeared under the water. It was hard to see what was happening from where Monica was, everything was dark.

But then she saw Patrick lift up from the water, floating in mid air as Eddie fell backwards in to the lake.
She didn't want to watch, but she couldn't look away. His legs snapped, and then his arms. She saw his neck snap and he fell back in to the water. It was exactly how Eddie had described.

"Monica!" Eddie had finally reached the land on the other side where she was. "We need to go!" Eddie turned her face away from the lake, he didn't want her to have to watch that. He was already traumatised after seeing Chrissy.

He took hold of her hand and they both ran. Looking for somewhere safe and dry to spend the rest of the night.
