We get to the court, and the game has already started. Walker and I take a seat on the bleachers, and my mom sits a few seats below us. Such an amazing mother.

"So, what friend is this?" Walker asks.

"Oh, right! Ella."

Walker stares at me with a blank expression.

"Ella Macklin?"

"No idea who that is." He says.

"She goes to our school. Well- I guess my school since you are homeschooled now. But anyway...we had like two classes with her."

Walker shrugs.

"She's got red hair? Brown eyes-"

"I don't pay attention to what color people's eyes are." Walker laughs.

I sigh, "Do you know what color my eyes are?"

"Yeah. Blue."

"Hmm, okay."

"You know what color mine are?"

"Also blue." I smile.

"Oh, there she is." I point to Ella.

"Which one?"

"Never mind." I roll my eyes.

"How long are these?" He asks.

"Like two hours. We can leave before it's done if you want, though."

"No, it's fine."

I nod and focus on the game.

TIME SKIP —

"Ella's really good." My mom says.

"Yeah, I know! She's really improved since last year."

I lean on the counter, watching her mix a salad together.

"So, Walker and I were talking- and you're probably gonna say no...but it's fine-uhm. Can we maybe have a sleepover?" I ask.

She looks at me, "Kady..."

"Please? PlEaSe, PlEaSe, PlEaSe!" I beg.

"Okay. Okay, but you better be good. No doing...anything."

"Mom! I'm-we're not gonna...do anything. I swear, it's just a fun, normal sleepover like best friends normally have.

"Sure. If Heather and Peter say it's fine, then I guess you can."

"Thank you!!" I squeal, hugging her.

I go up to my room to pack a bag. I can hear my mom on the phone with Heather.

I'm so excited! Walker and I have never had a sleepover together...Ever. I guess I understand why, though.

"Kady, you can go!" She says.

"Yay!" I grab my bag and go downstairs.

Mom drives me over to Walker's house, and Leena answers the door again.

Walker comes down the stairs and pulls me up to his room while our parents talk.

"I'm actually really surprised that our parents said yes."

"Same!" I say, sitting on the blow-up mattress next to his bed.

"Do you want to watch a movie? We can watch anything you want."

"Sure." I smile.

We go into the living room, and He turns on the TV.

He grabs two blankets, and we sit down on the couch.

"Let's watch back to the future."

"Okay."

He starts the movie, and Leena walks in with popcorn. She sits next to me and offers me some.

"Thanks."

She nods.

Ugh, this movie is so good. I love Marty so much!!

I lean against Walker a bit, and he shifts a little. Then he looks at me and smiles.

TIME SKIP —

I wake up and look at the clock. It's almost two in the morning.

"Walker?" I whisper.

He doesn't answer.

"Walkerrr?"

"hmm?" he sounds super tired.

"I'm cold."

He sighs, "Go get another blanket then."

"No!"

He sighs and sits up.

"You know where they are."

"I don't want to wake up your parents."

"You won't." He says.

"But your hallway is scary."

"What?" He laughs, quietly.

He stands up and looks at me.

"Are you sure you need one?"

"It's like two degrees in here!"

"Okay, yeah..you're right, it's pretty cold."

Suddenly we hear a loud noise downstairs.

"What was that?!"

"I don't know." He says, sitting next to me.
