~too far gone~

sorry i wasn't there when i left,

i never meant to break what we had,

know you think that it's all your fault,

but i have problems of my own.

how can i love, when i still think,

think back to everything that's in between?

maybe we were perfect on paper,

maybe we could have worked,

but i still see all of my mistakes,

and wonder what i'm even worth.

how can i put on this metaphorical ring,

when my past still haunts all of my dreams,

and i swear this is for the best,

they never warned us that love could sting,

wish you understood why i had left,

but telling you why is worse than deciding to leave.

sorry i wasn't there when i left,

i never meant to break what we had,

i know you think it's all your fault,

but i need to work this out on my own,

because how can i love, when i still think,

think back to everything in between?

maybe we started off amazing,

but slowly it declined,

when i started to realize why,

i had lost the feelings,

and couldn't lead you on,

and i know we were amazing,

but we were too far gone. . .

we were always too far gone.

i loved you once, and that is true

but this was never because of you.

how can i give you all my love,

when i need to forgive myself?

how can i love, when i still think,

think that my past isn't just in my dreams,

when i need to learn to love myself,

and forgive the girl you thought you knew so well.

i'm sorry i lost the feelings,

it isn't right to lead you on,

sorry that i have to tell you,

we were always too far gone.

our love was too far gone.

Behind the Poem :  this poem is very personal in the sense that sometimes love fades, feelings fade, but it's for the better of the both of you. you need to be able to love yourself, before you can feel confident enough to love someone else, and give the other person all that they deserve.
