Hydras Deadliest Weapon: The Falcon

(Description of this AU; Sam Wilson was taken by Hydra after serving in world war 2 for one year, around the time Bucky had his fall. Bucky had been captured by Hydra but had been rescued by Cap, but Sam Wilson wasn't so lucky. His genes were spliced with falcons to give him real wings and it worked, so they pumped him full of the Super Solider Serum too to see if he could take it. Sam was brainwashed into becoming the ruthless killer Hydra wanted him to be).

The air inside the old Hydra base was stale and moldy, revolting at first breath. Bucky had been captured in this same base a long time ago, but managed to escape twice with the help of his best friend and confidant, Steve Rogers. This was a journey, though, he wanted to take alone. After he finished tying off loose ends with hydra and stealing all of their info, making it public to the world they found out how really depraved Hydra really was with their experiments.

A man by the name of Sam Wilson was designated MIA after he failed to report to his commanding officer in the barracks. Some witnesses said he had been shot out of the sky, but others claimed he had been doing his job perfectly, diving towards those he was to rescue, and disappeared. Hydra had taken him after they found him completely paralyzed from the neck down. He could scream as loud as he wanted, but Bucky knew no one had come to save him.

To remedy the paralysis, they experimented by splicing his DNA with that of a Falcon, known for its strong backbone and wings. There were pictures and X-rays of the aftermath, seeing the wings shooting out of Sam's back while he is left traumatized and crying. Five weeks and three doses of super soldier serum later, he was now ready to begin the brainwashing into the perfect assassin.

It took them ten years to brainwash him, five years to train him in every model and shape of gun possible, as well as in combat. They also let him fly and grow more back muscles in a closed environment so they could watch and study him. He was implanted with Russian code words that instructed him to kill and hurt, and do whatever they wanted him to do.

Then a miracle happened. He broke free of Hydra's reigns, wounded his handlers, and flew off for a better life. But somebody has been walking around with the same face and wings, assassinating officials three years later. Bucky knows it could be the same guy, but he knows from experience that once you are free from Hydra's hands, you never want to commit targeted acts like that ever again.

So Bucky's goal was to find this former assassin and bring him back to the USA. He will tell his friends, mainly Steve and Nat, that it's because it's the right thing to do. But he knows, deep inside, that he's doing this because he knows the kinds of tortures and extremes Hydra was willing to go and do, and he wants to save someone who suffered far longer than he did.

He tracked him across Europe and the Middle East, even parts of North Africa until he was able to corner him in Portugal. Sam had been aware someone had been following him, tracking him, but never lead onto this so that he was able to study the person following him as much as the other person did. He used an internet cafe to find out the person's name to be one James Buchanan Barnes but had to figure out why he was tailing him.

Along the coast of Portugal, in a sleepy city, Bucky had caught up to Sam in an alleyway. Despite Bucky also having the serum, Sam was faster, smarter than him, and was able to quickly maneuver away and then pin Bucky against a brick wall.

"Who are you and why are you following me?" Sam asks in a low, gruff voice, despite knowing full well the man's intentions.

"Do you remember your life in America? In Lousiana?" He says, unfazed by the man pinning him against the wall.

From here, Sam did look like a normal man to Bucky. He expertly hid his wings underneath a fake backpack and wore long-sleeved shirts so that you couldn't see the bristling feathers lining his arms instead of hair. Bucky could only see the part of one feather, a deep brown and mauve color that was fascinating to look at because he'd never seen the color so boldly before. Sam notices him looking and tugs his sleeve back down.
