Thoughts Suspended

Suspended in water
They float above a rippled glass
Fluffy yet cold as ice
Their sight forever brings a sense
A sense of change and longing
Longing for the future
And longing for a time gone by

As I leave you now I remember
I remember how I told you all those lies
That this would be forever
That we would never end
But here I go on my own

We were both so sure
We thought that this time
We would have it right
But we wanted different things
We had always had different dreams
So there you stay all alone

But please I beg of you now
Remember me then
Remember me everytime
When you make those promises
Remember how we ended
Thinking it was each other that left
Taking all the blame on ourselves

Don't ever let me fade from your memory
And you shall never fade from mine
Though we may be over for good
That doesn't mean that we have to forget
Just please please always remember
The lessons that we have learned

So now as the suspended thoughts fade to black
I'll let you slip from my mind
These thoughts never present
Yet never really gone
