The Day After

The day after you left
The sky turned a grey mess
And my smile became a bit more shallow
The day before was worse
The sky laughed with mirth
And my thoughts became more searching
They went to and fro looking for hope
I shall stop the lies they were looking for you
In the hope that one day when this is all through
We can meet again in a fresh new place
And share something that transcends all of time and space

The day after you left
Reality began again
My life was jolted back without care
My plans were brought up
And I was returned my old luck
The day before was better
I got to sit out in the weather
I was undisturbed by time
I was left to experience my own mind
Perhaps that was worse
Being left alone with thoughts too large for my head
Perhaps it would have been better
Had I had some closure
And you clarified what you had meant

The day after you left
The day was long and pale
The day before was worse
As I sat with regret and remorse
Wishing I had said what I had meant
Wanting to go back and do it again
Now it's too late and I'm plagued by the waiting
For in the waiting, hungrily and swiftly grows the wanting
That one day when this is all through
We can meet again in a fresh new place
And share something that transcends
All of time and space
