i've been MIA for a few weeks, but i'm back for a couple days on my midterm break. so here's a cover for you, rayhan! i apologise for the wait, but i hope you can still find a use for these, if not for the cover of your fic then mayhaps for a graphic gallery or something! anyways, onto the covers themselves. this was the first time i opened photoshop to make a cover in what felt like forever, so i don't quite know how i feel about the end result. that said, there are little details in both versions of this graphic that i really like.
there's the most obvious one—the shattered glass overlay. the glass has been shattered by a bullet and, well... agape is a barbara gordon fic, and anyone familiar with her character will know how significant a bullet would be. of course babs is more than what the joker did to her, but the summary provided for this cover did mention her paralysis, so i thought i would incorporate it into the cover.
in the centre of the gunshot, you can also see the actual killing joke incident. i initially used the iconic comic illustration of the joker in his tourist costume, holding up his camera, but since that was an actual drawing and the other resources used in this cover were all live-action, i felt it made its inclusion less of a detail and more of a distraction. so instead i used a screenshot from the arkham knight video game (my favourite!) which worked much better.
i made this cover in two colour schemes; the first being my classic red palette, changed slightly to have a last night in soho vibe, and the second being fully red with only the text treatments and shattered glass overlay being white. the second version is inspired by numskulls!
the cover on the whole is inspired by stvrange and the incredible—you could say... mind-shattering—graphics they made for their harvey dent fic, deface. lou, you are forever an inspiration.
