two things: 1) we should know by now that if my love kat even so much as thinks about asking me to make something for her, i'm already on it, and 2) i will be living vicariously through head/heart because i'm too much of a little bitch to play the last of us myself. i have seen gameplay, and i have started a console save, but... clickclickclickclickclickeeeuUUuuurrrgghhhfuck me.
on to the graphics itself. these are some of the first graphics i've made in 2023, and on my new laptop! after working to save for a few months, i finally treated myself to a macbook pro. photoshop runs so much more smoothly on there, so making these graphics was easy, as far as me literally sitting down to make them goes.
the last of us, both the show and the video game series, excels because of its simplicity. it's the richness of the story that serves as its "embroidery"; that's why i went for a less complex design in the two covers and posters. i was subtle in incorporating the faceclaim, kate siegel, and placed most of the focus on pedro pascal as joel. i think he's got such an interesting face, you can't help but look at him. of course, this is still tlou, so in the two covers i wanted to place an emphasis on the cordyceps fungi, too. there are two versions of this cover, each with a different overlay from the show's opening titles; i can't decide which one i prefer, but i will say that there's something innately satisfying in both cases where the fungi follows the lines of their faces.
as for the posters, i won't pretend i busted any graphic chops here. i basically just slapped kate onto pre-existing tlou promotional material. this was mostly because i wanted to put ellie in somewhere, but i felt that attempting a manip would be too complicated and thus contradict my "simple" vibe.
