WHEN SPENCER WOKE UP IN A HOSPITAL bed the next morning, Steve and most of the party by her side, she began to remember the events from last night. Some parts had been blocked out – Billy’s death being the most prominent one that was spoken about – and she didn’t know if that was because she didn’t want to relive it, or if something was stopping her from remembering.

Despite that feeling, she could say that she was feeling much better, apart from the fact that it turned out she had a torn rotator cuff in her left shoulder. She had gone through multiple open surgeries and some excruciating tests of strength, but after a couple days she managed to prove that she was able to live back at home. The doctors didn’t report anything else in her shoulder, nothing that wasn’t normal. Of course, she now wore a proper sling, no more bandages, just strong, velcro that fixed her arm to her chest to keep her from moving it too much.

Spencer felt as if her life was finally turning in the right direction. She didn’t know if that was the correct direction she was supposed to go in, but she was definitely heading to whatever destination lied ahead. She was pretty much sure of this conclusion when Spencer was laying in bed two nights after getting out of hospital, Max was lying next to her, reading her some Marvel comics – Max only did this because Spencer begged her to – and Steve was out with Robin, about to get told that they no longer had a job at the Starcourt Mall.
