SPENCER FROWNED AND HISSED OUT IN pain as Max took the bandage Spencer had put on her shoulder just that morning off the wound, blood and black goo sticking to the back of it. The red-head winced at the sight, putting it beside her in the car and getting out some rubbing alcohol Robin had managed to get for them from the store.
“You don’t have to do this,” Spencer told her, body tensing as the alcohol stung her shoulder, teeth grinding to stop her from yelling out in the very public supermarket parking lot. “I could have just done all this myself.”
“Oh, really?” Max questioned, leaning forward to dab the cloth, it soaking up most of the blood while the black goo just seemed to seep back into Spencer’s shoulder. The girl swallowed, choosing to ignore it. Spencer was going through enough right now. “You can hardly stop moving when I do it.”
Spencer rolled her eyes, choosing to say stock still to prove that she was right. “Doesn’t matter. I know you got forced into this. Steve’s angry at me because I lied that I was fine, Dustin’s trying to calm him down and Robin’s getting some food for Eddie. That left you. So, conclusion: you didn’t have a choice.”
