THE RUMORS WERE TRUE, Spencer Harrington was a fucking cheerleader. Surprised? So was she. When she entered on her first day of high school, things were pretty great. She had a girlfriend – she couldn’t tell anyone that, but they were okay with their friends knowing – she had a friend group, her brother had a new job at the Family Video store with Robin and honestly, she was pretty happy. Unfortunately, that didn’t last too long.
By the end of the first week, the pain in her shoulder was back. By Halloween, Max had broken up with her. By Thanksgiving, she had managed to distance herself away from most of her friends, only hanging out with them if she really had to. By Christmas, that was when the headaches, nosebleeds, insomnia all started.
It was around that time that Steve had asked if she could go see the school’s therapist, Ms. Kelley. At first, Spencer thought she’d never cave, but by the end of winter break, the panic attacks had gotten so bad that she was afraid she was going to have a heart attack. Not only that, but Steve was scared for her as well. He loved his sister, and everytime he woke up in the middle of the night to find her unable to breath and crying in the corner of the bathroom, a little piece of his heart broke. With him being her primary caregiver – their parents not giving a shit about them and carrying on with their business trips even with Spencer’s shoulder injury – he decided to take on the responsibility of getting her help.
