- Eva's POV -

My first day at the office was a success. I didn't really do much except run errands and take notes at some meetings.

My boss wasn't as scary as I read she was, I even made friends with a few staff members at the office, I think I could really fit in here.

I got on the subway back home, put my airpods in, and sat back and listened to music the whole ride home.

When I got home I was greeted by a parents and best friend Harmony, with a decorated apartment and my favorite Columbian dinner, Arepas.

"Congrats on your first day!", they shouted as I walked in.

"Aww thanks guys!" I said smiling and pulling them all into a hug.

We sat down at the kitchen table.

"How was your first day?", asked my mother.

"It was really good! I met my boss, who was a little scary but she came around. I even got to sit in some of the meetings and take notes, but I mostly ran errands like getting coffee and lunch" I said, starting to eat.

"Wow so interns really just get coffee all day, like in the movies?" Harmony said with a giggle.

"Yeah, pretty much." I said laughing.

"Well I'm sure they'll give you more responsibility as you learn more, just gotta keep working hard", my dad said.

"Yeah thats a given, I'm just so glad I got this opportunity, working for Margaret Spade will open so many doors for me." I said.

"And one day, someone is going to say that about you mija", says my mother.

"That's the hope!" I said, smiling.

We finished eating dinner, Harmony went home, and I settled into bed.

I get to do this all again tomorrow.

If every day is like this, I know I'm in for a crazy year.

I finally was sleep enough to drift off.

I woke up the next day, feeling refreshed, ready to tackle my second day at work. I got ready and headed out the door.

I decided to get Margaret's usual coffee before going in..cause, hey, kissing up to a new boss never hurt anyone. I got to the office and somehow, everyone looked more on edge than usual.

I greeted the receptionist I met yesterday, who I learned is named Diane.

"What's up with everyone this morning?" I asked.

"Apparently, one of Margaret's biggest clients is coming in for an emergency meeting, she's been stressed and taking it out on everyone.", she said.

"Oh boy, who?" I asked.

"No one knows, she hasn't told anyone", she shrugged.

I gave her a nervous look and walked over to Margaret's office.

"Good morning Ms. Spade, I got your usual before coming in." I said while knocking on the open door.

"Please Evalina, just call me Margaret..", she cuts me off. "..thank god someone does something right for once!", she shouts to the rest of the office.

"Sorry, Margaret, will do. You can call me Eva, by the way, just in case, if you wanted something shorter." I said nervously.

"Eva. Ok, I like it." She said, taking a sip of her coffee.
