Sorry that it took me forever to write. I have such a hard time writing smut its unbelievable.

Vinnie and I had the sweetest dinner on the upper deck. We ordered from a sea food restaurant and had it delivered directly to the boat. Salad, crab, scallops, and stuffed shells, topped off with a bit of champagne. I tried telling Vinnie that we didn't have to drink, but he said it wasn't a big deal and that this could be considered a special occasion. Although, when my glass only had a couple of sips left, his still remained untouched.

Now we just sit in the dim lighting, our food cleared from the table between us with the strung up lights illuminating our faces as we talk lightly back and forth.

"My teacher called my mother so my mom had me rewrite the paper." I laugh while I tuck a strand of my hair behind my ear.

Vinnie asks with a laugh, "Well what did you expect? Your teacher probably wanted a paper that was 2nd grade appropriate, not a story about a fish dying in the middle of the Sahara- in descriptive detail."

I wave my hand around with a mock eye roll, "Well then Miss. Queen should've been a little more descriptive about what she wanted."

Vinnie smiles and shakes his head at me, a comfortable silence falling between us as he looks down at the table. "I dont remember you being that eccentric as a kid."

"Thats probably because we were only exposed to that one environment together." I turn and look out over the water, "Its weird to think that for whatever reason the universe brought us together again." I pull my sweater sleeves over my hands, "It doesnt even feel like this lifetime... probably because I dont remember that summer but..."

Vinnie admits quietly, "There's a few things I remember about that summer..." he smiles slightly to himself, "one of those being the time Reggie got a bug stuck in his nose."

I sputter out a laugh, "What?"

Vinnie smiles fully at the memory, and explains, "He was a toddler, and I'll be honest, I kind of resented him for a while because all of my moms attention went to him. So I was supposed to be watching him in the backyard but I went and played by myself for a while... when I came back to him, he was in the sand pit with a cricket hanging out of his nose."

Vinnie shakes his head, starting to laugh, "When I screamed, I scared him so bad that he blew the damn thing straight out without even meaning to." his smile starts to fade as his mind goes to a different place. "After that I learned my lesson and never left his side."

I reach across the table to take Vinnie's hand, but he doesn't look at me, his eyes just stare out at the dark sea.

This is not where the night is heading.

I clear my throat and follow his gaze to the sea. After a beat of silence, I ask, "Do you think theres a shark out there?"

"I dont know, let me jump into the water and find out." He responds with a sass.

"Or I could?"

"No."

I snicker at his blunt and firm answer, the look hes now giving me is a kind of "Dont you even think about it" type, which makes me grin some more.

"You know, only 30 percent of the ocean has been explored..." I lean forward, my hand squeezing his, "Maybe id discover a new type of fish and we could name it after you."

He narrows his eyes at me, quipping, "Or we could name it after you, since youre already a fish."

"Could you imagine?" I ignore him as I sit back, looking up at the starry sky, "A Vinnie fish."
