(Hello, it's me Zero! this is my first Fic and I hope it doesn't suck. this chapter will just be the backstory between Y/N and Diluc. I hope you enjoy it!)
18 years before the present day

It was cold... So cold.
My breath was so shakey and I could hardly see two steps in front of me. "Why did mom and dad leave me here?" I thought to myself. I walked along a clearing in the forest until in my sight was a run-down sign. I wasn't taught how to read yet, I was only 4. I headed in the direction of the sign with a carving of a grape on it. Grapes are edible and I was hungry. As I walked towards the vineyard I tripped and heard mechanical whirring.
SNAP
I was up in a net! Several meters in the air suspended by an intertwined rope. Some strange people all wearing similar clothes came running up to me. "Oh my goodness!" a man yelled. The net was harshly dropped leaving me on my bottom. "Are you alright little one?" that same man said as he knelt down to my level. "I-I'm fine. Just hungry." I said with my minimal knowledge of English. The adults started up in conversation. Some talk about my matted hair, tattered clothes, and pungent oder. "Hello there bud, My name is Turner. Where is your family?" The man I now know as Turner says. "I... I don't know. Last I saw them they were driving away in a cart." I say with my eyes averted to the floor.
"Listen, this kid has no family and we could use some help here and there! why not take them in!" Turner says. "But what would the boss think?" another male says. "I don't care what the boss says! We can't just leave them out here! I'll take her in as my own alongside Guy. I'm sure he won't mind. He says he wants a sparring partner anyways." the man says enraged as he picks me up. " don't worry bud. I'll take care of you." Turner says affectionately
I spent the rest of my days working at the winery as many things over time. Diluc's Father is worried about his son and wants to keep him safe and social. He wants to get him some form of companion. However, he isn't really a cat person. He wants someone who can keep him out of harm's way. He looked over to myself and Guy. "Yup, That'll do" he mutters to himself
