Lazy mornings

My eyes flutter open and I'm instantly hit by morning sunlight filtering into the room, through the flimsy layer of curtains. Con in summers as sunrays enter deep into our room early in the mornings, as early as 6:30am.

I turn over in bed and look at the time in my phone. It's around 6:45. I groan slightly and face the other side, stretching my arm out to get a hold of my husband to bury myself into and fall asleep again.
But neither do I find my husband on the other side, nor any sleep.
I squint, trying to glance around the room once before finally getting out of bed.

I slide my feet into my slippers and make my way out of the room to try to find Taehyung. I'm moving around like a blind person before I finally spot him reclining on the couch in living room.

I drag my feet towards him. He looks up from his phone, noticing my presence.
"Why are you up so early? It's your PDO (Post duty off) today and it's just 6:45." He asks me.
"I'm not up. I'm just sleepwalking to find my husband." I mumble.

I reach the sofa and get on the couch, and lie directly on top of Tae, burying my face into his chest, melting in him.
"I need you to fall asleep again." I mumble, snuggling into him even deeper.
I feel his body shake with laughter.
He encircles his arms around me and hugs me tightly close to his chest.
"Come here, my Pooh bear."
He holds me close for a while but I'm unable to fall asleep again.
I groan.
"What happened?" Tae asks, brushing my hair away from my face.
"I automatically wake up so early now. I can't fall asleep again." A whine escapes my lips.

A while passes before I finally give up on sleep.
I put my legs up to either side of Tae's waist and pull myself up. I bury my face in his neck. His grip on me loosens.
"What's your schedule for today?" I ask him.
"Just usual studio day. But I might get free early today. Maybe by 2-3."
"Hmm."
I think for a moment. What should I do today? I should be studying. But I so want to take a day off. Arghh.. I'm tired.
"What is it? What's wrong?" Tae asks on hearing me groan.
I shake my head vigorously before finally rolling off him. I lie beside him on the couch and look up at ceiling, thinking.

"In how much time will you leave?" I ask Taehyung.
"In about an hour and a half, why?" Taehyung can drop me at the hospital.
"I was thinking, I should go to library. I need to study."
"But yesterday you were saying, you want to take a day off. You have been talking about how you badly need a break since last week. Moreover, you already spent your last 3 PDOs in library "
"Yeah. But now I'm thinking I should be studying instead. I haven't been getting time to open books during duty at all lately." I pout.
I seriously should. It's just laziness that's making me want to rest. And it will go away after I take a shower, right? Moreover, what else would I do today? I have a whole day off. I would waste it only.

I feel Tae's hand on my cheek and he turns my head to face his, bringing me out of my thoughts.
"Look at me."
I turn my gaze towards him.
"Are you sure about this? You'll burn out like this. It's healthy to take breaks. You have a 36 hour PDO in a really long time today. Maybe you need to take a proper break without thinking about hospital at all."
I pout, "But isn't that the point exactly? 36 hours. I should be studying. I won't get time like this soon again."
"But..." He starts. I furrow my eyebrows. He's not understanding what I'm saying. He stops midway and releases a long sigh. "Fine. Let's meet midway, shall we?"
"What are you saying?" I ask, confused.
"I'm saying, go to library, but for only half a day. I'll pick you up on my way back. That way, you'll be satisfied that you didn't (he mockingly makes the air quotes) "waste" the whole day and I'll also get time to take care of you the way I feel is right."
He's not gonna take no for an answer, so I just simply nod my head, accepting his proposal.
He ruffles my hair, "Good girl." I involuntarily blush at his praise. Stupid me. I'm a grown ass woman. I reprimand myself internally.
