"Yes, Tito . She's with me. It was a coincidence that she's with me kaya I offered to take her home."
Wala akong magawa kundi pakinggan nalang siya na kasalukuyang katawagan si Dad. Napa-isip rin ako kung saan niya nakuha ang number ni Dad. Are they close?
"No, Tito. It's no problem for me, really. I'll take her home safe and sound."
Bahagyang kumunot ang noo ko sa sinabi niya. Safe and sound? That's so random.
After a series of conversations, the call finally ended, and just in time, the red light of the traffic light turned green so he shifted the gear and drove.
My lips are pursed and I slightly moved my head to his side but I think he didn't see me peaking because he was so focused on the road up ahead.
"So..., you saw what happened earlier?"
I slowly turned my head to face him, but he was just focusing front and on his driving with his serious look.
He let out a sigh and nodded once. Now that's a yes. Shocks!

Umawang ang labi ko sa realisasyon at umismid at hinawakan nalang ang sariling mga kamay.
"I'm sorry. Na-tense lang," sambit ko sa kaniya.
"Tense for what?"
"Hmm?"
He scoffed and chuckled a bit. "Do you have a hearing problem, Serafina?"
"Hmm?" What?
He glared at me and gave me a small warm smile before looking back at the road. "Nothing."
Sumimangot ako at nag-pout. "Hmm! Ano nga?"
"I said...," he paused for a bit and glared at me again.
"What are you tense for? You were aggressively scratching your fingernails."
Napatingin naman ako sa mga daliri ko at napansing mataas na nga ito. Medyo nag-cra-crack narin ang gel nail polish ko kaya need ko nang sabihan si Mom na magpapa-nail appointment kami.
"Ano kasi..., baka,"
"Baka what?"
Bumuntonghininga ako at mariing ipinikit ang mata bago magsalita.
