I sat up in bed, suddenly awake.
I listen hard, trying to find what had woken me up.
Creeaak.
It came from the hall. I get up and head to the door.
Thump. "Ouch!"
I throw the door open and- "Keris?"
He straightens up quickly. "A-Ariah! What are you doing up so late?"
"You woke me up. What on earth are you doing?"
It looks as if he's been walking up and down the hall, based on the brand-new wear on the carpet.
Keris sighed. "I think we need to talk."
