Manik's pov
We have our success party today, our company has been doing fantastic and it is a great way of promoting our business and meet rivals. I had specifically asked nandini to be there on time but nope she is always rebelling against me
I swear if I didn't need her I would have fired her despite what the contract states. I looked around but still didn't find her. A few minutes later I felt a burning gaze on me making me look in the direction .
There she was, in this beautiful gown, she looked like a princess. I felt my heart stopping for a second seeing her like that, she didn't over do it, her hair was kinda curly and she had no makeup other than her usual kajal, mascara and her lip tint
I walked to her and she once again gave me a billion excuses but then she offered to take me out for coffee, like are you joking me but I decided to drop it.
I was gonna take her to see some of our clients but she almost froze and stumbled into my chest hearing harshad's voice making me wonder what is going on.
Harshad's wife was talking to nandini like they know her but nandini pretended like she didn't know them which is weird. They asked about Nandini's love life and to my surprise she said she does have the love of her life. I know she is single but then she grabbed my hand making me feel something inside at her touch.
"It's Manik" she said and my heart skipped a beat
I had a billion questions going on in my head at what was going on.
"Haha is this a joke nandini" harshad said in a mocking voice
"It is not mr arora" I said slipping my hands around nandini's waist to stabilize her
I knew she felt something as well, I excused us and grabbed her arm walking to the pool area becasue there were barely any people out there. I took her to the end of the pool behind the bushes where we weren't visible
"What the fuck was that Nandini" I semi yelled at her
Her face drained colour, she was looking at the floor.
"Nandini im talking to you" I said lifting her chin up
Her eyes met mine and I realized she wasn't breathing
"Nandini breath" I said and she moved her hands from her sides to her chest trying to rub her heart
"I ma ma-manik i"
"Can you breath, I won't yell just breath" I said caressing her back sitting next to her
She grabbed onto my arm as I caressing her back slowly
"Breath" I said and she looked in my eyes
Her eyes showed fear and that feeling of seeing that in her eyes was the worst feeling ever.
"It's going to be okay just breath" she was starting to take slow breaths with my words
We sat there for a good 30 minutes until her breathing became normal
"Im sorry" she whispered looking down
"It's okay, what is going on? Care to enlighten me girlfriend" I said and her eyes started to water
"I fucked up, language I know but I did fuck up and in between this fuck up I fucked up even worse. I put you in between this all and I am really very sorry for doing this. At that point I couldn't think of anything and I know I should have just been a big girl nd just faced it head on but instead I threw you under the bus. I don't know how to make up for this, I don't even know what to do and I just I I can't" she started sobbing by the end of her little ramble
"Shh did I say anything?" I asked and she shook her head crying
"Then why are you crying?"
"I know you will kill me for doing this" I pressed my lips together holding in a smile
"What the fuck Manik? Why is she crying" I heard cabir

"No seriously not eveyrhin is her fault, she might have been late but who cares. Nothing is worth her crying, this is messed up. Nandini stop crying I will beat him up don't worry" he said interrupting me
"Shut up cabir, I am not"
"No you shut up, how dare you make my best friend cry" navya said
"Shut the hell up ,everyone fucking quiet" I yelled at them and they both sat down beside nandini
"I am not gonna kill you, I just wanna know what's going on" I said wiping her tears and she looked at me with her puffy eyes and red nose
"I know you will fire me, its sorry I will tell them I lied" she said
"No I will not fire you and no you are not gonna do anything until you explain to me what's going on" I said and she shook her head
"I can't" she said
"Why not"
"Because it interferes with our potential clients and im not gonna let my personal past get in the way of our professionalism" she said
"Is it harshad" navya asked and nandini nodded
"Im sorry you had to see him, I didn't know he would be here today im so sorry" she said hugging nandini who had started crying again
"Will someone just explain what the shit is going on here" I asked and navya gave me a look
"Cabir attend the party with navya, ill drop nandini home. Apologize for my absence" I said and he nodded
"Manik it's okay im sorry for this, you can stay, I umm can I just go I know you wanted me here but"
"Nandini shut up" I said getting irritated at how she puts herself back just for some party for business
"Cabir you got it" I asked and he nodded
"Navya baby come on lets go" he said and even though she didn't want to leave she did when I nodded
