-Steve's perspective-

As the sound of different instruments blared throughout the classroom, I couldn't help but stare over at Robin and Nancy chatting.

After Mike's outburst, Mrs. K allowed us to just practice instruments while she gave him a lecture in the hallway.

He shouldn't be allowed to talk with Mrs. K like that. Doesn't matter their relationship.

I had knowledge that only a select few knew and god was it hard not to discuss it. Privileges of being one of the flings of Hawkins Private School one and only, Nancy Wheeler.

I sighed as I kept watching the two. It seemed that they were getting closer. Honestly, it's about time that Robin gets a female friend. From what she's told me at our job, she's mostly friends with men.

    I however, couldn't help but feel slightly...bitter?

Nancy said that even though she had lost interest in me, that we would still talk...but she hasn't given me a single word since school started.

Every once in a while we'd share glances, but that was the whole interaction.

I understand that it was a summer fling...but it felt like so much more than that. She moved on so fast...so fast that she was over me even while we were together...and here I am. Staring at her from across the room.

God...can I be any more pitiful?

    RINNNGGGGGG

I sighed as I picked up my backpack from the floor. School was out but that just meant that it was time to embarrass myself for 4-5 hours.

"Yeah and this place is top tier. Probably one of the best places to go after school" Dustin chatted with Eddie as he walked past.

"I dunno, Henderson... I've never even heard of this place." Eddie mumbled before putting his hands in his pockets.

Max popped her head between the two with a smile. "No no Eddie...I think you're gonna really like this place."

Eddie raised an eyebrow before letting out a light laugh "You guys won't take a no, will you?"

    "Nope."

    "Absolutely not."

Eddie sighed before he started to raise his pace in walking. "Well come on then. We can't miss the bus that takes us there."

Their eyes widened before nodding rapidly with a smile. "Your treat?" Max's face quickly turning into a pout.

"What? You guys make me go somewhere...and then expect me to pay?" Eddie laughed before stopping in his tracks and turning to face them.

    "Yep." They both smiled awkwardly.

"God damn it...Okay. I'll pay for it too." Eddie sighed before heading out the door with the two kids.

This is exactly why I wanted to be friends with him. He seemed to treat the ones he had well...and that was desperately needed in the friend group I currently had.

   It was something...

   I desperately needed as well.
