They were in their favorite spot to

talk, it was the top of a small hill,

small enough that it was easy enough

to climb, but big enough so they

could see the stars clearly. They had

been planning to just stay there for a

few minutes but minutes had turned

into hours and pretty soon the sun

had begun to set. They had turned

the blanket that they brought to sit on

into a makeshift hammock between

two of the three trees that lined the

hill. It had been Fell’s idea and Blue’s

creativity to make it work. Now both

of them were lying peacefully

together in the hammock, watching

the stars. “They’re so beautiful..” Fell

said, barely above a whisper.

“Hmm?” Blue gazed over at Fell. “The

stars, you know, they remind me of

you. Beautiful and bright.” Blue

giggled and looked up at the stars

with a sigh. “They are quite beautiful

aren’t they, almost as beautiful as

you.” Fell stuttered something

indistinguishable, before turning to

kiss Blue on the cheek. “Not even

close to as beautiful as you, my

starlight.” Fell said in a hushed voice

as though it was a special secret the

world wasn’t ready to know. Blue

sighed happily and snuggled up to

Fell who wrapped his arms and legs

around him like a koala. “Did you

hear that?” Blue asked, sudden

urgency in his voice. “Hear what-”

The rope that was holding up the

hammock on one side suddenly came

loose, sending Blue and Fell

plummeting to the grass below them.

Fell landed awkwardly on top of

Blue, stopping the both of them from

rolling down the hill. The two of

them burst out into laughter after the

initial shock wore off. Fell plopped

down on Blue comfortably as though

he were a rather large pillow. He

made a noise of confusion as Fell

grabbed the rest of the blanket from

where he lay to wrap around the two

of them. A sound much like a purr

rumbled from Fell’s throat. “Comfy…”

he said sleepily. Blue giggled quietly

before embracing his partner as the

two of them fell asleep under the

stars.
