Y/n sat patiently on the roof of his apartment waiting for a particular shadow monkey, he positioned his small wireless speaker and connected his phone to it and proceeded to scroll through the several songs in his concerning-ly long playlist. Y/n then decided it was best just to hit shuffle and let the playlist do it's thing. A few minutes passed but Macaque still wasn't in sight. Well, not in Y/n's sight at least until a certain voice decided to scare the absolute shit out of Y/n.

"Boo."

Y/n jolted slightly as he leaned forward clutching onto his top (specifically where his heart would be), Y/n looked up just to see Macaque staring right back at him with a shiteating grin, "Wow N/n, you are so easy to scare." Macaque teased. Y/n scoffed playfully and rolled his eyes, "Pffft shut up you emo fuzzball." Y/n teased back, regaining his posture. Macaque ruffled Y/n's hair and sat beside him, Y/n pulled out his phone and pressed the play button on his playlist and 'X-Girl' by Eyedress starts blaring through the speaker. Y/n and Macaque stared intensely at the stars that lathered out throughout the almost pitch black sky with hints of dark blue highlighting it, Macaque then pointed out a constellation of stars, "Hey, that kinda looks like a cat don't ya think?" he said as he traced the stars with his finger. Y/n scoffed, "More like a deranged rat."
Macaque rolled his eyes, "Nah you're just blind, that's clearly a cat." Y/n only laughed softly, "Yea, whatever you say emo fuzzball."

Macaque groaned at the stupid nickname Y/n gave him, "When will be the day you stop calling me that exactly?"
Y/n hummed and shrugged his shoulders while wearing a playful smirk on his face. Y/n gasped making Macaque jump a little, Y/n pointed at one of the stars in the sky, "Oh Macaque! Look at that one, It's so bright!" Y/n exclaimed like a giddy child. Macaque only stared at Y/n with a 'what in the hell are you on about' look on his face, "Uhhh, so is that one." Macaque said as he nudged his head towards a similar star that shinned just as bright. Y/n glared at Macaque with a blank expression, "Yea!- Well-..This one's special!" Y/n tried justifying himself. "Oh yea? How so dear N/n?" Macaque teased as he leaned on his hands, giving Y/n a teasing smirk. Y/n thought for a good few seconds before he spoke up, "Wellll...that star's kinda in the middle of less bright stars so it's kinda like wanting to be more...independent? No thats just stupid. Uuuuuh...yea forget I said anything." Y/n fiddled with his hair with embarrassment. Macaque chuckled before locking his eyes with the stars again. Y/n gasped again but louder that time, Macaque quickly turned his head towards Y/n, "Y/n? What are you-"

"WAIT. WHAT IF THAT STAR USED TO NOT BE BRIGHT BUT THEN BECAME BRIGHT BEFORE THE OTHER STARS AROUND IT DID?" Y/n exclaimed.

Macaque only stared at Y/n in which he couldn't tell was either disappointment or confusion, "Uhm..what?"

Y/n started to wave his hands around, "Like! Think about it! What if stars start out really dim and slowly get brighter over time or something? Yet again I sucked at physics class but still, its a possibility! Or, Or what if..." Y/n continued to rant. Despite Y/n's stupid and probably illogical rant, Macaque still listened while occasionally humming at certain parts. He hated to admit it, but Macaque has grown quite attached to Y/n.
