THIRTEEN

- CHAPTER 13 -

❝I'm here.❞

Hogwarts, Sixth year.

EVER SINCE THEY HAD gotten back to Hogwarts, James would always find himself glaring at the two Hufflepuffs, Anna and Evan. It wasn't his fault, he just couldn't help but despise them both for what they had done to Grace.

He knew that the two had gotten upset over her liking towards a certain boy, even though he didn't know who it was, he wished that her feelings had changed by now.

Day by day, James was falling even deeper into the depths of his feelings. Recently, it had gotten so bad that the boy couldn't help but feel nervous every time Grace was around him.

"James, you're messing it up," the girl said while taking the knife away from his hand.

They were in potions class and the boy had gotten a lot worse at doing what he was told to. Even though he had tried his best, James would still find a way to do something wrong. The nerves were eating him alive, he was going crazy at his feelings.

James had talked to the Marauders about it but they were of no help. They did comfort him at first but after a few days, the teasing had started and continued on up until this day.

Fortunately for James, the full moon was later that week and he couldn't wait for it. It would serve as a big distraction for him and running around with his best mates, it was the best thing in the world.

For some reason, Remus had been in even more pain than usual. Maybe it was because he hadn't been eating well, of because of the fight him and Sirius had a few days ago. Remus didn't know what it was, but he couldn't help but worry for all his friends.

"Be careful today, please," he said with a groan.

Sirius was running his hand through the boy's hair, something he had loved a lot. Even though the two had fought, Sirius knew that at this moment, Remus had needed all the support that he could get.

After his transformation, his wolf had been extremely agitated. James was trying to calm him down when all of a sudden, the wolf turned around and slashed the boy's stomach open.

James could feel the pain spreading all throughout his body. Even though he was in extreme pain, he couldn't help but worry about his best mate. If Remus had found out that he hurt James this bad, he would never forgive himself for it.

Fortunately for them, as soon as Remus had transformed back into a human, he had passed out due to exhaustion.

"G-Grace, get Grace," he said while wincing.

The black haired boy ran into the castle as fast as he could. Since no one at school knew of their animagus forms, they couldn't even take James into the infirmary.

"Grace! Come quick, it's James."

Grace had been in the library doing her homework when Sirius had interrupted. A few hours ago, James had told her that he would be busy for the night. Grace knew not to question his whereabouts, it was only fair that he would keep his own fair share of secrets.

"Oh God, what happened?"

"He's bleeding a lot, you need to heal him quick!"

And so without asking another question, Grace started to what she had done best. Heal the boy's wounds with the touch of her delicate fingers.

James had known of the girl's healing abilities and that she had always wanted to be a healer. So when he got hurt by Remus, there was only one person he could think of.

When the boy first opened his eyes, he was surprised to see Grace in front of him with tears clearly present in her eyes.

"Grace?"

"You're okay James, i'm here."

To be completely honest, Grace had already known of the other boy's lycanthropy. James was also aware that she knew of it, but he didn't want to be the one to tell her.

It was his best mate's secret, not his.

"Merlin, my hair's all messed up."
