-------------------------

You could already feel it. The force of your body leaving as you stirred awake. The air was seemingly pushing you deeper into the mattress. It's been years since you've woken up to this.

Last time was in elementary school, you've had a handle on it ever since. Always in the back of your mind though. Coming up once or twice in a very quick thought but nothing to this degree.

You know you had to wake up, you needed the check right? It was already an hour and a half before you needed to leave. If you'd woken up three hours ago you could've called out without penalty.

You still haven't opened your eyes yet.

When you do you expect everything to look dull and grey like before.

To your suspicions you were right. Your wall, window, the picture of you and Aaron on the dresser was lifeless. Void of any happiness or color.

From there you had to drag yourself everywhere. Into the shower and soon to the kitchen for your morning coffee.

When you did Aaron was sitting on the couch. "Why weren't you in bed", you asked. His eyes grazed over your skin with a gentle smile.

"I just needed to get some work done."

"On your day off? What am I saying... of course." He tugged your hand when you were close enough. Kissing your temple and still damp hair.

"I also wanted to catch you before you left." His hand held yours, your head rested on his shoulder.

"Isn't that thoughtful", you murmured.

"You got to get going though honey. You'll be late." You groaned and settled deeper, it drew a chuckle from his chest.

"Would a kiss goodbye make you go?" You nodded and proceeded to lazily kiss your husband. His hand settled on your cheek. Aaron lightly bit your bottom lip before pulling away.

His eyes burned holes into skin. The heat, the love he made you feel was uncompared. Slowly you saw his eyebrows deepen. "Are you okay?"

You sucked in a small breath, "I'm fine... just tired."

His face didn't lighten, he didn't believe you. He's never seen you in this state before. He was a profiler, it's quite literally his job to notice, you don't know why you thought you could hide it.

He walked you to the car and you got in, he didn't go inside the house till your car disappeared down the street.

By the time you'd gotten to the first light you wanted to throw up. "This can't be fucking happening." You needed to go through it, the feeling would pass eventually. You just needed to get back home as fast as possible.

______

Your co-workers called out... again. Meaning most of the work fell onto you and one other employee. No one was in laundry, which meant constant back and forth, up and down up and down. You were already exhausted.
