MACDUFF FINALLY GOT OFF OF THE SCHOOL BUS, the first thing he did was check the mail box. There was always a routine. And that was the first thing he did before he even went inside the house. And when he did finally go inside, it felt empty. There hadn't been anything in sight. Macduff eventually walked to the kitchen counter, after putting his backpack near the closet of the front door. A note, on the kitchen counter from his older sister, Desdemona. And it read,

Dear Macduff,
Unfortunately the Rumor Report office is having me stay a little overtime on this murder story. Clarence is in his robotics club until 5:30, so you're eventually going to have to pick him up. The car is in the garage. I won't be at home until 10:00 at night. There's extra money on the counter. I love you dearly. You know that.

── Mona

A sigh escaped from Macduff's lips, before sitting the note back down on the table. Before Macduff could even go up to his room, the phone had rang. The male eventually walked over to the portable phone, picking it up and answering it.

"Hello?"

"Hey!"

"Mona?"

"Yeah!" Mona replied, "You just got home?"

"Yeah, I just got here," Macduff replied, pretty dead, "Why, what's goin' on?"

"Nothing, really. Did you get my note?"

"Mhm. . ." Macduff hummed.

"Okay good," Mona sighed in relief, "So you know about Clarence and his club."

"Gotta pick him up. Yeah, got that," Macduff replied.

"Okay. And─"

"You left extra money because mom didn't have us enough. Yep, got that, too," Macduff says back, running a hand through his hair.

"You'll be fine, right?" Mona asked.

"Of course. I'm fine, like always," Macduff replied, "Having fun at work?"

"Truthfully? Not really," Mona laughed, "But I'm hanging in there. Be safe, okay?"

"Yeah, I will," the blonde says, "You be safe, too."
