Girijaa opens the door, and finds karan on the door. She smiles widely at him, smirks at him, but seeing him not saying anything, not even smiling and he's cold demeanor. Her smile also falters.
Kaira was standing their, with her hands covered with henna up till her elbows. Girija was standing behind her, near a pillar, and riya was standing close by, near the swing, holding on to that swing. Others had gone for some end moment shopping for wedding.
Karan and kaira were standing face to face. Karan had his hands shoved into his pockets.
"mujhe zara baat karni hai (he says looking at kaira) personally (he says looking towards girija and riya , then looks towards kaira)" he was talking in a strict voice.
He clears his throat looking down.
"in dono ko sab pata hai" kaira says in a low voice.
Karan looks up kaira, shocked. "tum bol sakte ho" kaira continues.
He looks in disbelieve towards girija on his right, who looks down not able to look in his eyes. Then he turns to look at riya on his left, she does the same.
Karan looks towards kaira, his face blank, he removes his right hand from the pocket and says "great...toh tum bolo (he says pointing his hand towards her)" he asks her to say.
"main kya bolu karan?" kaira says and karan flips out on her.
"kya bolun?!...mujhe jawab chahiye!...kya decide kiya hai tumne?..sirf 3 din reh gaye hain shadi ko...kya kar rahi ho tum?...yeh kya hai (he points towards her hands) kiski mehendi nikal rahi ho tum (kaira looks down at her hands)...mehendi nikal rahi ho, shaadi ki shopping kar rahi ho...MANGALSUTRA Khareed rahi ho...kis liye?...kaira ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND (he says, placing his fingers on the side of his forehead) tumhe shaadi nahi karni haina, tumhara decide hogaya hai na..."
"karan..." kaira says sternly
"what karan?! (girija turns to look back, to check if someone is around to hear them) tumhe pata bhi hai baat kitne aage badh gayi hai!...tumhe samjhmein aaraha hai ki tumhare aur mere family members ke kitne expectations hain iss shaadi se?...nahi!... baat sarees and hall booking ka nahi hai (he shows her palm, stopping her to say anything) baat yahan logon ke emotions ki hai...unko agar kal ko pata chalega ki tum shaadi karne ke liye ready nahi ho, toh kya hoga unka? (he says pointing behind him)..bolo na!!kya hoga tumhare mom dad ka (he says pointing towards her), kya hoga MERE mom dad ka (he says pointing to himself) kaira keeps looking at him with a blank face all the time but then interrupts him.
"ek minute, life humhe saath mein bitani hogi, shaadi tumhare mom and mere dad ki nahi hai, toh jo bhi hai woh humhe manage karna hai...okay" kaira says but karan interrupts her.
"haan...par agar tumhe mere sath apni life nahi bitani hai toh bolo...and life start hone ke pehle bolo...smajhmein aaraha hai kya?! (kaira stares at him blank, so karan sighs loudly and asks pointing at his forehead) samjhemein aaraha hai kya tumhe?!!"
"dekho...dekho-dekho, kaise chilla rahe ho mujhpe (kaira says to karan, karan blinks confused for a while) iiss se pehle kabhi nahi chillaye tum mujhpe...aise hi...aise hi dheere dheere ek ek shades bahar aayenege" kaira says.
"haan aate hain!...jaise situations change hoti hain waise insan badlata hai (he says smiling sarcastically at her) jaise time aata hai waise, time aata hai toh woh pyaar karta hai, time aaya toh apni jaan laga deta hai...and time aaya toh JAAN LETA HAI!! (he says pointing towards her all the time, that was what happened to him, he loved her, he did all he could do for her, but now she had pushed him beyond the edge)...insaan kya shakkar ya namak nahi hota hai kaira, jiska 24 hours same taste ho...par agar tumhe insaan pehchaan ne nahi aate hain ,toh woh tumhari fault hai!...and tumahre fault ki sazaa maine tumhare ya meri families ko bhugatne nahi dunga!!...DO YOU UNDERSTAND!....tumhara kya hai?...tum kal 6th phere pe bol dogi 'nahi nahi mujhe shaadi nahi karni'...phir kya karenge humlog?" karan blasts of at her.
"karan!...tum ladki hote na, toh tumhe samjhemein aata ke ek unknown person ke bharose apna ghar chodke aana kya hota hai.." she says her voice heavy, as she was about to cry, but karan interrupts her.
"BAS!! (karan shows her his hand, riya looks at karan) bas haan (he points his finger at her, girija also keeps looking at karan, with a blank face, kaira looks at him shocked) tumhe kya laga, ladko ko koi tension nahi hoti hai?...yeh..yeh sab tension sirf tum ladkiyon ko hi hoti hain..huh?...tumhari responsibility hoti hai hum pe...tumhe kuch hogaya na toh tumhare parents humse jawab maangte hian..sab humse hi puchte hian..kaunsi kaisi ladki humare ghar aayegi...humare parents ke sath milke reh payegi ke nahi, poori family bandh ke rakhegi ke nai (girija looks up at karan) arey hazaaron tension hoti hain ladko ko, hazaaron problems hoti hain." He says, kaira keeps staring at her.
"ek baar kaira, ek baar sochke dekho...ki main agar tumhare jagah hota (kaira looks away), and main tumhare jaise behave karta... toh kya karti tum? ...main agar shaadi ke baaremein decide karne mein, ya shaadi ke liye 'haan' bolne mein itna time lagata toh kya hota?? (kaira looks up at him) ek baar khudko meri jagah rakh ke dekho, and, mujhe tumhari jagah aane do, and phir baat karte hain hum" karan starts with a low voice but ends firmly.
Riya and girija keep staring towards karan.
"main jaake bolu tumhare mom-dad ko, ke tumhe shaadi nahi karni hai? (kaira stares at him) bolo na?...bataun kya!?" he says shrugging his shoulders.
"dhamki de rahe ho ya pressurize kar rahe ho?..." kaira says but karan interrupts
"main tumhe bata ne ki koshish kar raha hu!... ke tum pagal ke jaise behave kar rahi ho!!" karan shouts at her.kaira stares at him
"no yaar kaira, this is not done (he shaking his head negatively , and looking away)...this is wrong yaar (he says shaking his head negatively, and pointing towards her) mian ek baar 2 hours late aaya, toh rishtey todne nikal padi tum (kaira looks away), abhi khud jawab dene mein kitna time laga rahi ho...har game ke na kuch rules hote hain kaira...and time over hua toh game rokna padta hi hai" karan says and kaira looks at him offended.
"tumhe kya hai huh main yeh game haar gayi toh (karan looks at her confused)... pehli bhi main aisa hi khel haar chuki hu main, khelne ke baad (she says hinting about her failed relationship with amar) and mujhe wapas haarna nahi hai!..isliye main..." kaira says, but karan interrupts her.
"arey agar aise hi sochti rahogi toh, life main kabhi koi khel nahi khel paugi tum, kisi ke bhi sath mein (implying that if she keeps getting scard of failures in relationship, she wont be able to get into relationship with anyone) ek baar khel ke toh dekho (he says tired) kaira tumhe khelna hai ke nahi yeh tum decide karo...but agar tumhe nahi khelna hai na..toh game shuru hone ke pehle bolo, (kaira keeps looking at him) kyunki abhi jo game khelna haina, usmein we are partners...jo bhi, jaisi bhi innings khelni haina woh humdono ko milke khelna hai...so if do not want to play this game , then you can leave... so you leave! And you leave now!!" karan compeletes saying, kaira keeps lokoing at him, then looks away, still not understanding him.
Karan keeps looking at her shocked, but she keeps looking away.
He nods his head angrily and says "its decided kaira (she frowns and looks towards him)...decided...tum apne parents se baat karo, main apne parents ko bolta hu" (he says in a low, cracked tone and pauses for a long time, of almost a minute.
Girija and riya look towards karan worried. Karia keeps staring at her. Karan says still looking in her eyes "yeh shaadi...nahi hogi" he says and mumbles the part in a very low voice that no one can hear.
Kaira looks at him shocked.
Riya looks from karan to kaira.
Girija looks down, few tears rolling down from her eyes.
Riya also looks down, squeezing her eyes shut.
Karan and kaira keep staring at each other.
He nods, and leaves from there when a tear is about to roll out from his eyes.
He rushes out of the door, wiping away his tears, turns by the mandap for their wedding, but stops abruptly, and looks ahead of him shocked.
