Eddie's always had his suspensions about Hawkins, ever since strange things kept happening and especially after the 'mall fire' in season 3.
Eddie often dismissed the ideas of there being something up with Hawkins since he didn't want to seem crazy, but then that incident with Chrissy happened.
When Dustin, Steve, Robin and Max spoke to him about the Upside Down and the monsters Eddie was freaked out and scared, but also relieved and felt like some things just made sense.
