Diane's POV

i kept all my clothes and stuff here because i will be back but i brought my toothbrush and stuff like that

i wake up with Goose he was going to Top Gun training today so we both had to wake up early "morning sleepyhead" i say as Goose wakes up

I've been up for at least an hour getting ready to go

"morning" he grumbles getting up and walking over to me

he gave me a quick peck and put his jeans and button up shirt on

after we were both done we went downstairs to the kitchen where Michelle was making breakfast

"Goose?" she says confused when she sees him "hey Michelle" he smiles sitting at the table with me "ok i'm leaving in like 20 minutes" i check the time and Michelle groans "i have to fly with some random person for next few days" she complained and finished making breakfast putting it on three plates

"it'll be fine, i'll be back in no time" i reassured her

we all finished eating and i said bye to Michelle and Goose

i drove all the way back home

Michelle's POV

Goose drove the both of us to Top Gun and when we got there i met the guy that was flying with me

he was definitely the cockiest person i've ever met and i'm dating Maverick and best friends with Diane

we were in the air with Mav, Goose, Iceman, and Slider trying to get Viper

me and Mr "hotshot" over here were in the middle he was starting to lose control

we got caught in a flat spin and he lost full control of the jet

Pete's POV

i watched as the jet Michelle was in spin rapidly heading into the water

the two ejected and Michelle hit her head on the canopy

At that moment i felt a pit in my stomach we all landed our planes while Michelle was brought to the emergency hospital

as soon as i could i went there but it was too late she had already died a few minutes before i came

i didn't know what to do so i called Diane

"D" i said into the phone "hey Mav, what's wrong, you sound upset" she said worriedly "Michelle's Dead" i told her my voice shaking "No she's not, Mav tell me that's a joke" she panicked "she broke her neck and died" i explained my voice breaking a little "oh my god, the one time i don't fly with her this is what happens" she cried "i know, i loved her too Diane" he tell her "i'll be back a tomorrow night" she told me sniffling "ok D, see you then" after that we hung up

THE NEXT DAY

Diane's POV

i said goodbye to my Dad about an hour before he had passed and got the call about Michelle half an hour later and attended the funeral during the day today

when i go back to top gun  i'm quitting, i can't go on without Michelle

i called Goose earlier asking if i could stay with him because i couldn't be at Michelle's alone

i made it to Goose and Mav's place and knocked on the door, Mav answered and i just cried and hugged him

"i should've stayed, i shouldn't have left yesterday" i cried into his shoulder he rubbed my back "D it's not your fault, you had to go see your Dad" he told me "ya but i could've just gone today to the funeral, i told her it would be fine" i explained

"she really loved you Mav" i sniffled "every time you guys were together she'd be smiling the rest of the day" i add "thanks D" he said as we pulled away from the hug, i nodded with a slight smile

i stopped crying and Goose came Maverick went to his room

"I'm quitting" i told him "what?" he said confused "I'm not gonna fly anymore" i shook my head "c'mon Annie, at least graduate" he told me

"i don't know Goose, it's just not the same. i can't fly without listening to her complain about my flying, or her sarcastic comments, or her getting mad at me for doing something stupid. i'm gonna be all alone in there" i explained "we're graduating in 2 weeks thats only 14 more missions till we graduate" he tried to reason with me "I don't know Goose it's been a long two days" i sighed "ok lets go to sleep" he brought me to his room and we feel asleep
