Augustus's eyes fluttered open and he sat up, looking around.
Nobody was there.
He quickly hopped out of bed and began rummaging around for atleast a note of reassurance for where Matt might have gone.. nothing. Augustus understood why amity & luz would've left early, but Mattholomule? He would never leave without saying goodbye.
As quick as literal lightning, Gus pulled his shoes on and flung his bag over his tired shoulders before trudging down the stairs.
Timeskip to Augustus running over to Matty's house
Augustus looked left & right at each house, trying to recognize Mattholomule's home from memory. Eventually, he came across the house and hesitated to knock, before picking up the courage to do so.
A tall boy opened the door and Gus looked up, it was Steve! (Thank God it wasn't Matty's mom guys 🤮🤮🤮 not like I wasn't considering it though-)
He smiled in slight relief "Steve, right? Have you seen Matt? Is he okay?!"
Steve just smirked and ruffled the boys hair up for what, the second time? "Matty's fine, he's in his room... I dunno why he came back so early." He stood back slightly so Augustus could come in
