Part 4

We made our way into the castle. "Hello?" Hunk asked, causing his voice to echo. We all turned around and looked at him. "Are you asking for a death wish?" I quietly asked, placing my hands on my hips. Then a bright blue light appeared along with a voice saying something about an identity scan. "Why are we here? What do you want with us?" Shiro questioned. After the scan, lights came on. "Looks like we're going that way" Pidge said. We began walking, following the lights as they turned on, with Hunk calling out 'hello'. Another door opened, the room was empty though. "What is this place?" I asked, walking up to one of the holes in the floor. "It's some kind of control room" Pidge replied. Then two pods came out of the holes. There were people inside them. "Are these guys dead?" Hunk asked. The front of the shields began to come off. The first one revealed a girl with long white hair in a dress. "Father!" the girl reached out and fell. Lance caught her. Lance blushed. Then of course, he became flirty. "Who are you? Where am I?" she asked. "I'm Lance, and you're right here in my arms" Lance answered with a smirk. I face palmed. "Your ears" she suddenly stated. "Yeah?" Lance questioned. "They're hideous, what's wrong with them?" she moved away. "There's nothing wrong with them! They heard exactly what you said about them!" Lance defended. I covered my mouth to hold back my laughter. She then grabbed his ear and spun him around, making him kneel on the floor with his arm behind his back. Lance was in pain. "Who are you? Where is King Alfor? What are you doing in my castle?" the girl questioned. "A giant blue lion brought us here" Lance painfully answered. "How do you have the Blue Lion? What happened to its paladin?" she asked as she let Lance go. "What are you all doing here? Unless..." she trailed off. "How long has it been?" she asked. "We don't know what you're talking about, why don't you tell us who you are? Maybe we can help" Shiro stated. "I'm Princess Allura of Planet Altea, I need to find out where we are and how long we've been asleep" she made her way to the control stand. As she did that, the pod I was standing next to, opened. It was a guy with orange hair and a mustache. He immediately gasped as he looked at me. "Enemy combatants!" he yelled before charging at me. I swiftly grabbed his arm, swung my leg under his before turning him and getting onto my back, putting my feet at his stomach and launching him. "Quiznak! You're lucky I have a case of the old 'sleep chamber knees'" he said as he got up. "Otherwise, I'd grab your head like this" he began to demonstrate what he would do. "I'm always up to have a throw down" I placed my hand on my hip. "It can't be" Allura drew us all out of what was happening. "What is it?" the guy asked. "We've been asleep for 10,000 years" Allura stated. "And that's a problem?" I asked. "Planet Altea and all of the planets in our solar system have been destroyed, Coran, father is gone, our entire civilization....Zarkon" Allura narrowed her eyes in anger. "Zarkon?" Shiro asked. "He was the king of the Galra, a vile creature and enemy to all free people" Allura stated. "I remember now...I was his prisoner" Shiro said. "He's still alive? Impossible" Allura held her fist to her chest. "I can't explain it, but it's true, he's searching for a super weapon called Voltron" Shiro exclaimed. "He's searching for it because he knows it's the only thing that can defeat him, and that's exactly why we must find it before he does" Allura said. 

Coran, as I had found that that's his name, was trying to get Allura to eat. "Man 10,000 years, that's like 1,000 plus ten" Lance said. "That's times ten" Keith corrected. "Whatever, dropout" Lance retorted. "I haven't eaten since breakfast and I'm starving" Hunk put his hands on his stomach. "Yeah, but you've thrown up like five times" Pidge said. "Good point" Hunk then began eating the green 'food' in front of him. "I can't believe your civilization created such advanced technology 10,000 years ago" Shiro commented. "It must have been incredible" I said. "Yes, it was...but now it's gone, we are the last Alteans alive" Coran stated. Coran hugged Allura as she started crying. I felt my heart break. "And I thought not having my parents around often was tough, but to not have anybody at all left, I can't even imagine" I sat down on the steps. There was squeaking that could be heard coming from one of the pods. In it were four little Altean mice. Suddenly, an alarm went off. "A Galra battleship has set its tracker to us!" Coran exclaimed. "How did they find us?" Allura questioned. "I'm not sure, but I bet it's Keith's fault" Lance said. "Say whatever you gotta say to make yourself feel better after getting us stuck on the other side of a wormhole!" Keith snapped back. "I'll stick you in a wormhole!" Lance got in Keith's face. "Stop it cadets! This is not the time to place blame, it's time to work as a team, how long before they arrive?" Shiro turned to Allura and Coran. "At their speed? I'd say.....a couple of days" Coran answered. "Good, let them come!" Allura sounded determined. She then turned to us. "By the time they get here, you six will have reformed Voltron and together, we will destroy Zarkon's empire!" Allura said. Hunk ruined the moment by burping. "Sorry, food goo" Hunk apologized. "Princess, there are six of these lions, how are we going to find the rest?" Shiro asked. Allura then lead us to another room. "King Alfor connected the lions to Allura's life force, she alone is the key to the lions' whereabouts" Coran explained. Then there was a holographic galaxy that took up the entire room. "These are coordinates, the Black Lion looks like it's in the same location as the Blue Lion" Pidge stated. "Very observant, that's because the Black Lion's in the castle" Allura praised. "King Alfor locked it in the castle to keep it out of Zarkon's hands" Coran explained. "It can only be freed if the other five lions are present" Coran continued. "As you have found, the lions choose their pilots, it is a mystical bond and cannot be forced, the quintessence of the pilot is mirrored in their lion, together, they form something that is greater than science can explain" Allura started. "The Black Lion is the decisive head of Voltron, it will take a pilot who is a born leader and in control at all times, someone whose men, and women, will follow without hesitation, that is why Shiro, you will pilot the Black Lion" Allura moved the map of stars to have the Black Lion in front of Shiro. "The Green Lion has an inquisitive personality and needs a pilot of intellect and daring, Pidge, you will pilot the Green Lion" the Green Lion's picture moved in front of Pidge. "The Blue Lion-" Allura was cut off by Lance. "Hold up, let me guess, takes the most handsome slash best pilot of the bunch?" Lance smirked. Allura moved on. "The Yellow Lion is caring and kind, it's pilot is one who puts others needs before his own, his heart must be mighty, as the leg of Voltron, you will lift the team up and hold them together" the Yellow Lion appeared in front of Hunk. "The Red Lion is temperamental and the most difficult to master, it's faster and more agile than the others, but also more unstable, its pilot needs to be someone who relies more on instincts than skill alone, Keith, you will fly the Red Lion" the Red Lion appeared in front of Keith, who smiled. His moment was ruined by Lance. "Unfortunately, I cannot locate the Red Lion's coordinates yet, there must be something wrong with the castle, after 10,000 years, it might need some work" Allura said. Then she turned to me. "And lastly, the Gray Lion, caring yet daring, the Gray Lion is the middle of Voltron and needs someone who brings people together, someone who is not afraid of anything and someone who is willing to give their life to protect others, Melody, you will pilot the Gray Lion" the little image appeared in front of me. My eyes widened. I suddenly felt determined. Then all of the lions started moving and formed Voltron. "Wait, we're going to be in there and flying lions, got that part, how do lions turn into legs? Also, is this going to be a long trip?" Hunk asked. "We don't have much time, Pidge and I will go after the Green Lion, Lance, you take Hunk and get the Yellow Lion, Keith, you go with Melody and as soon as you two get the Gray Lion and the coordinates of the Red Lion, you get on it" Shiro ordered. I nodded. "Wait Keith gets to go with Melody?!" Lance crossed his arms. "In the meantime, I'll get the castles' defenses ready, they'll be sorely needed" Allura announced. "I'll ready the pods and coordinates so you can get to the Green and Gray Lions" Coran said. Then we were off.
