That's what you used to say

When I came home broken

As everyone watched me decay

"Stay true and don't worry"

You told me these lies

But you never seemed to listen

As I pleaded with my cries

"Sticks and stones may break my bones

but words will never harm me"

Words broke everything I was

As I turned into a nobody

Don't say if you don't care

Don't promise if it isn't true

Don't talk if you're lying

Don't help if you don't have a clue

Don't stay if you want to get up

Don't listen if you just talk

Don't smile if it's fake

Don't run if you can't walk

It isn't a perfect world

So I'm not gonna lie

But if there's one advice I will give:

You've got to carry on and try.
