The first thing I was given wasn't even a meal. It was simply a glass of water. Welcome to this meal.

“Freddy, look! She’s opening her eyes!” My mothers face turned into an excited, breath-taking face.

One of beauty.

One of happiness.

A beautiful baby girl laying in her arms gently, softly, like a cloud in the sky. “Maria! Look, her eyes are brown just like mine!” My mother frowned as my father smiled, seeing himself in my little figure.

“Don't be upset honey, she has your lips.” He comforted her as she smiled softly, finding that same smile on her young newborn child.

A new life in a new family. The first born. The newest pride and joy.

And yet, with all these titles over my head, I still was just as simple as the little boy just born in the room next to me, with two beautiful mothers crying over their new son.
