The village was complete chaos as the First Order had arrived in your small village. The storm troopers ran about, shooting their blasters at anything that moved. Your hair clung to your sweat-soaked face as you hid behind a building, trying to catch your breath. Your heart was pounding through your chest as footsteps could be heard coming closer to your spot.

‘This is it,’ you thought. ‘I’m going to die alone and in the dark.’ You bit your lip, body shaking and eyes clenching shut.

When the footsteps came to a halt next to you, you opened your eyes, watching as the soldier clad in white raised his weapon, preparing to shoot it. His hand wrapped around the trigger as warm tears ran down your cheeks. You shut your eyes upon hearing the loud blast, but you felt nothing. Confused, you opened your eyes to study the trooper who only stood there, staring down at you.

“FN-2187, is your section clear of these scum?” You heard the distant voice who was coming closer little by little. The trooper turned on his heel, walking to his colleague.

“All clear,” he said. The sounds of the steps then began to drift away, alerting you that they were getting further from your position. You let out a breath as you brought your knees to your chest, hugging them tightly. You could see the burn marks and the rubble from trooper’s blast just beside you.

'He spared me.’

After everything you knew was destroyed in one night, you had decided that it was finally time to join the fight to end this madness. The Resistance was now where you called home and you were content. It was only two weeks ago that you arrived and you already felt like you fit in with everyone.

The base was hectic and lively as the end of the Starkiller base was announced. People scurried throughout the area, celebrating and stocking up on supplies while the survivors of the battle were arriving back, ready to celebrate.

You joined the crowd that was now gathering around one of the ships, ready for the reveal of the victors. Out emerged a female, a male, and a wookie. The three of them seemed relieved yet somber. The crowd then parted, allowing the trio to walk through. Luckily for you, you were right at the edge of the part and followed as everyone clapped.

Finn walked through the crowd beside Rey and Chewbacca as the rest of the Resistance cheered them on. Scanning the crowd, Finn caught a glimpse of your face. Your eyes met his and you two held each other's gaze until Finn finally passed, crossing into the hangar to speak with the General. He smiled to himself, glad yhat you made it out of your village alive.

"Who was that? The man," You asked the crowd began to disperse and thin.

"His name's Finn. Heard that he was from the First Order and is on our side now, but it was just a rumor I heard," the man beside you said as he walked away from you.

The night was alive with a party that was thrown in this victory of the Resistance. Colorful lights were strewn everywhere and the smell of alcohol was strong throughout the entirety of the base. Music boomed through the large room that all of you occupied. Some danced, some sat, and others were socializing.

Taking a sip from your cup, you leaned against the wall, watching as your coworkers danced around, having a great time.

"Why aren't you celebrating with them?" A deep voice came from beside you. Looking over, you saw that it was Finn who was approaching you. You smiled and stood straight, facing him.

"I'm not really a dancer. The same could be said for you," you said. Holding out your free hand you introduced yourself. "The name's (y/n)."

"Finn," he replied, gently grasping your hand in his, a soft smile on his face. You took another sip from your cup and leaned against the wall once more.

"The word around is that you used to be in the First Order. Is it true, Finn?" You asked hin, watching as one of your new friends fell onto the ground. Finn followed your gaze.

"It is. I used to be a storm trooper," he explained, fumbling with his thumbs. You smiled and excused yourself to go help your friend. You took an uneasy step and fell yourself, landing onto the cold floor. Laughing, you looked to Finn and watched his posture. It was oddly familiar.

'Could he be the one that spared me?' You thought. He helped you up onto your feet and then guided you to a chair, making sure you were settled.

"I'm glad that we could see each other again, especially in these circumstances," he chuckled, sitting in front of you. You looked at him, catching his smirk.

"So it was you who spared me," you mumbled. He nodded, watching as more people began to dance on the dance floor. "Thank you for that."
