EXES AND OMGS
NO one had been more ecstatic about the news of Haley's pregnancy than her mother and as soon as she'd found out, Ashley had immediately taken up a knitting course so she could hand make some clothes and keepsakes for her first grandchild. The woman had invited her twins around for breakfast and Haley was stuffed full of Ted's homemade pancakes with extra blueberries.
(He'd done his research and found they were good for expectant mothers.)
Haley smiled, resting her hand over her full stomach as she watched Ted and their mother playfully bump hips as they did the dishes side-by-side "Can I just say I'm so happy you two are back together."
Ashley's cheeks reddened but she couldn't help but smile as Ted swiped some bubbles across her nose "Me too."
"It's almost as cute as Aria and Ezra running off to get married." Hanna chimed in as she carried her plate over the sink before grimacing as she watched her mother pinch Ted's backside "Almost."
The four chuckled before the door bell rang and Ted glanced to Ashley "Are we expecting someone else?"
"No." Ashley admitted before making her way to answer the door.
Haley shared a glance with Hanna before her mother returned and she frowned at the expression on her face "Mom—?"
Her heart dropped as the familiar man followed her into the kitchen and Hanna gasped at the sight "Dad? What are you doing here?"
Tom's gaze moved to Haley, lips pursing "I heard I was going to be a grandfather." 🅰️
HEART pounding until all she could hear was the blood pumping furiously through her fire soaked veins, Haley fled her mothers home, ignoring the calls of her family, their shouts, phone calls and texts as she made her way down the street. She felt sixteen all over again, hurt and angry as once again her father stumbled back into her life with no notice, merely a disappointed gleam in his eye as he looked her way.
She was so caught up in her own mind, she didn't hear him catch up with her until his hand had locked around her arm. With wild eyes she pushed him off, holding a hand protectively over her stomach as the other lay outstretched to keep him at a distance, something that had Tom freeze. Shaking his head with a frown, he assured "I-I wasn't going to hurt you..."
"Why are you here?" She gritted out, hand furling into a fist as she dropped her arm, staring at him through the stinging in her eyes "Why now?"
