FOR the first time in months, Haley slept soundly. Her mind wasn't tortured with nightmares, memories. She didn't jolt awake breathless and covered in sweat, instead her eyes fluttered open the sunlight streaming through her window, a serene smile on her lips as a warm hand lay splayed across her bump. Turning her head, Haley watched Lucas's eyes open slowly and whispered "Good morning, roommate."

"Roommate?" He questioned, voice croaky from sleep "That's my official title, huh?"

"Uh-huh." She played along "I mean, what else should I call you?"

Lucas hummed thoughtfully "Hmm, I don't know. How about handsome? Brilliant?" He began to pepper kisses on her face between words earning a smile "Loyal?"

"You just described a dog." Haley snickered before putting on a baby voice "Are you a good boy?"

"Only for you." He smirked, continuing his kiss "Okay, how about boyfriend?... Lover?"

Haley let out a giggle as he placed his lips on her neck "Gross! Lover? What are you, Jane Austen?"

"Hey, don't diss Jane." Lucas frowned "She is one of the best authors in history. I mean, her deft use of social commentary on the British landed gentry and exploration of the dependence of women in the 18th century is—"

"You're cute when you ramble." Haley murmured, cupping his chin in her hand before leaning forward and pressing her lips to his before whispering "Lover."

Lucas smiled before sighing "And you're cute even with atrocious morning breath."

Haley scoffed, covering her mouth with one hand and slapping his chest with the other "I do not have morning breath!"

"Oh, but you do." He taunted, climbing out of bed and rounding the other side to help Haley to her feet "It's almost as bad as your pregnancy farts."

Her eyes widened "I don't fart!"

AFTER making sure to brush her teeth (twice) and use copious amounts of mouth wash, Haley made her way downstairs with Lucas in front of her, the boy wanting to make sure if she was to trip he'd be there to break her fall. The couple were all smiles and laughter after their first night living together but as they made it into the kitchen, their happiness disappeared in a moment for sitting on the counter was two puzzle pieces.

"Are those for the game board?" Lucas questioned after a moment of tense silence "How—?"

"Someone's been in here." Haley felt her heart race as she looked around in a panic "They might still be here."

Lucas placed a hand on her back, opening his mouth to reassure her when a knock on the front door stole their attention. Sharing a look, Lucas shrugged before heading over to answer it, only for his eyes to widen at the sight of Detective Barry Maple standing on the porch with a team of cops behind him "What—?"
