THE SON OF THE SANTIAGO'S

Khenzie's POV

Pagpasok ko sa loob ng bahay ay sinalubong ako ng mga kasambahay. Wala sina Mommy dahil may inaasikaso silang importante sa Singapore at next week pa uuwi.

Umakyat na ako sa kwarto at humiga agad sa kama. Bigla kong naisip ang lalaking nakita ko kanina. Sanay naman akong nginingitian pero iba talaga kasi ang pakiramdam ko sa isang iyon.

Tamad kong nilingon ang bag at kinuha ang cellphone sa loob nang tumunog ito. Hindi na ako nag-abalang tignan kung sino ang tumatawag at sinagot iyon.

"Yeah?"

["Khen? Are you okay? Where are you?"]

"Good evening to you, too, Lloid," sarkastiko kong bati. "I'm fine and already got home."

I heard him sigh and slightly chuckled. ["That's great to hear. And good evening, Mackhenzie."]

"Napatawag ka?" Bumangon ako at lumapit sa closet para kumuha ng pajamas. Hindi naman kasi pwedeng matulog ako ng nakapang-alis.

["Just.. checking in on you,"] mabagal niyang sagot.

Natigil ako sa pagkuha at tumitig sa salamin. "Lloid.."

["Yes, love?"]

Should I tell him about the creepy guy? Maybe not. Hindi naman kasi talaga ako sigurado na may sumusunod talaga sa akin kanina at nasa peligro ang buhay ko.

But I'm a CEO though, being part of the business world is kidna dangerous. Now that I'm the one in-charge of our company, siguradong sa akin mababaling ang mga kalaban ni Daddy noon.

I may be a young CEO but I know lots of our company's dark secret.

And that includes some horrible things my parents did.

["Mackhenzie? You okay? You still there?"]

"H-Huh? Oh, yes, still here."

["May sasabihin ka ba?"]

I smiled as if he can see me. "Just wanna ask if you'd like to go to church tomorrow?"

["Church? Yes, of course."]

"Great.." I covered my mouth to stop myself from yawning but it didn't help.

Narinig kong tumawa ang nasa kabilang linya. ["Someone's sleepy already."]

"Napagod ako sa pagso-story telling sa mga kaibigan ko." I closed the closet then head to the bathroom. Nilapag ko ang cellphone sa gilid ng sink at ni-loudspeaker para makapag-toothbrush ako. "They want to know about our relationship and they want to meet you, the only man who captured my heart."

["The only man?"]

"Yes, Lloid," I smirk. "The only man. I have no boyfriend since birth, remember?"

["Right,"] tumawa siya. ["Well then, I'll let you sleep—wait. Nag-dinner ka na ba?"]

"Opo. Doon na kami nag-dinner sa restaurant."

["Alright. Matulog ka na, magsisimba pa tayo bukas. 9 AM?"]

For the second time, I yawned. "9 AM, at the New Cathedral."
