The name is a combination of bream (a species of fish and another word for Bluegill) and gill.
It is based on the Sunshine Peacock Cichlid, the Bream, and the African Cichlid. I also based the color palette on Feebas and the shiny on the Red Shoulder Peacock Cichlid.
