Yukiko just realised that she wasn't in her room, but rather somewhere she didn't recognise for a second. After a brief moment of confusion, she noticed a manly build figure in front of her face, just inches apart from each other.
Toji was peacefully sleeping. She started to admire his face. The small scar adorning on the side of his lips, the sharp nose, along with relaxed eyebrows that he usually furrowed. His lashes we were pretty long too. The messed up hair that was a little too long for her liking, didn't seem all that bad to her.
Her eyes started to wander to his toned chest, that was practically exposed, and his lower body. His outstanding figure amazed the woman.
'What does he eat to be like this?' She thought.
After a second, some sinful thoughts started creeping up to her and filling her mind.
She shook her head and decided to sit up.
"Are you going somewhere?" A voice from beside her could be heard.
"I was just going to get something to eat, but..." She abruptly stopped midway her sentence.
"What?"
"... well... you see, I can't cook." She said with an embarrassed look plastered all over her face. "So I thought that maybe you would have some shops around..." She continued, which made the man crack up.
"So our little spoiled flower can't even do something as easy as to cook herself? You seem to have had a very comfortable life." He teased her even more.
"My father never allowed me to do anything except for training. Of course I woukd end up like this! I had multiple nannies, but they kept being fired for going against me father's words." She explained hurriedly. "And we have a cook at home. My mother was sick for the last two years of her life, so we had no other option, but to adapt." She crossed her arms and held her head up high, only to be laughed at harder.
"Then do me the honors of being your cook today..." He said and stood up, walking to the bathroom first to wash up. Meanwhile, the girl folded the bedsheets and cleaned up the bedroom a little bit.
As soon as Toji went out of the bathroom, he told her to wash up to, while he makes them something to eat.
Yukiko went to the bathroom, washing her face and hands, before joining the man in the kitchen.
"Let me help, I want to learn to cook." She cutely followed him around like a lost chick.
After some thought, Toji told her to was some rice. An easy task, you might think. However, Yukiko spilled one too many rice grains into the sink, making the older male sigh and show her the right way to do it.
"You have to put your hand near the end of the bowl, so that the rice grains wouldn't fall into the sink." He demonstrated her, as she looked at the technique, wide eyes.
"Wow! Let me try it once more." She said and took the bowl into her hands again, repeating what Toji told her to do, but spilling a lot less rice grains now.
"That was a lot better." He said and patted her head, earning a small thanks from her.
"Now, cut the tofu into bit-sized squares." He said, showing her how to do it properly once more, but this time before she actually tried all on her own.
She perfectly replicated what Toji did and went on cutting the other ingredients he told her to prepare.
He himself started on making the egg rolls, roating the salmon and boiling the eggs.
"Now, put the eggs into cold water to stop the cooking process. Then when they aren't hot anymore, start descending them." He instructed, flipping the salmon to its side.
"You are a perfect husband material, Toji." The woman said with wide eyes, full of respect and admiration.
"No, it's just you're too far from being a wife material yourself and have low standards." He joked, as the girl mumbled profanities at him.
"Actually, I am the most sought after bachelorette in my clan." She tried praising herself.
"The moment everyone in your clan hears that you can't cook, I bet the amount of suitors wanting to marry would decrease in half." He made fun of her once again.
"Maybe I should just say that, then those pests will finally leave me be." The woman started to think about the endless possibilities of making those men repulsed by her.
"Should I also say that I don't take showers?" She indulged into the joke and made the man chuckle at her.
"The egg rolls are ready, give me the plate over there." He said pointing at the cupboard. She easily reached the top shelf and gave it to the man next to her.
"Put them on the table, the salmon is almost done." He told her to also take the utensils and take a seat.
"You are very good at this."
"Itadakimas" the both of them said before digging in.
"Of course. I had to live somehow." He said and started with the seaweed soup with tofu, mixing it with scoops of rice on the separate bowl next to him.
The girl started with the salmon, eating it with rice.
"From now on I will be coming way more often and you will teach me to cook." She declared.
"Who said that I would bother with something like that?" He raised his eyebrow, questioning her one-sided decision.
"Because we're very close friends?" She said with a smile, her cheeks full of rice.
The only thought in Toji's mind was how adorable she looked, but he would rather die that voice that.
"Then you will bring the groceries." He replied, wanting compensation for his patience.
"Yes!" She brightly responded, stuffing her face with food.
"Don't eat too fast, or you will choke." He calmly said, eating his portion.
"I can't stop, Toji-kun. Your cooking is on another level! If cooking had ranks, you would be a special level cook! I almost want to hire you as my family's cook."
"Why almost?" He wanted to keep hearing her talk mindlessly.
"Because I don't want you tangled up in our messy family situation." She said, taking a sip of the rip flavoured broth.
"Then like you said, come to my house to learn to cook, whenever you have time." He assured her, as he saw her slightly saddened face.
"Now you can't take your words back!" She instantly brightened up and they continued eating the rest of their food in a comfortable silence.
After eating, she noticed the time and decided to go back to the clan. They would be furious, if they found out her association with the Zennin.
"Toji, I need to go back to my clan. They will probably punish me for disobeying them and running away, so there might be a chance that they would lock me up for the time being. It usually takes about a week, but if you don't hear anything from me for a week... it might sound bad and too much of a hassle to you... but check up on the situation. I am having a bad feeling about this." She instructed him, waiting for a reply, but hearing nothing in return. That stung her a little, but she kept her composure and bid him goodbye, before heading out.
Little did she know, Toji was going to go right after her, to ensure her safety.A/N: Leave votes and comments ples♡
