Yukiko hurried back home to finally see her husband. She opened the door and was met by the man, who was sitting in the kitchen, preparing food for her.
"I told you that I will make dinner tonight!" She burst into the room.
"You came earlier than usual?" He stated the obvious.
"Yeah and I did so to make something for instead today!" She pouted, sitting down and crossing her arms.
"I swear you keep being more childish every time I see you." He said and pecked the top of her head.
"Don't just sit there. Peel the potatoes at least." He said and threw her some.
"You are quite rude, my husband." She scolded him.
"And you are quite a slacker, my wife." He filleted the fish in front of him.
"Says the one who makes his wife work, while he sits around the whole day." She mumbled.
"Oh, by the way, I found work for myself." He forgot to tell the girl.
"Oooh! So what will you be doing?" She curiously asked, looking at the man's wide back.
"Assassination." He shortly replied.
"As in killing people?" She was concerned and he just hummed 'yes'.
"Please, be careful." She didn't dare to stop him from something he wanted to do.
"How much are you being paid for that?" She questioned him further.
"About 3.5 million yen." He said and made the girl's mouth drop. (~$25.000)
"I feel like I am being used for dirt cheap work right now." She said remembering her sad half a million yen for three jobs she took on. (~$3.800)
"Well, you have been able to put food on the table." He pointed out, getting the fish marinade ready at the same time, before putting the fish aside to soak in it.
"Who is the target?" She asked without giving it much of a thought.
"Some random guy, who seemed to have wronged my client."
"Poor guy." She said without much empathy.
"Until when do you have to comple it?"
"Tomorrow evening." He said and washed the rice.
The girl went to wash the potatoes too, then started to dice them into moderately sized pieces.
"I guess you are making fish with baked potatoes?" She washed and dried her hands. Yukiko looked at his figure, silently slaving away at the kitchen.
"I will miss my househusband..." She quietly said and hugged him from the back.
"You are really shameless." Toji simply replied.
"Yes, you are right. But I am your favorite, shameless wife." She said, hugging him tighter.
"You sure as hell right about that."

"Help me, please... someone!" A little girl shouted out from under the rubble that fell down.
Yukiko easily slashed the curse and went to find the owner of the voice.
"Is there someone?" She shouted, only to not receive any reply back.
"I'm here! Please, help me!" A soft and tired voice could be heard from a small distance to the collapsed building.
"I am here!" She heard the voice say once more, making it easier for the woman to find.
Then she saw a small girl with brown hair and brown eyes sat near a big rubble, trying her hardest to dig something up from under it.
"Please, help me... my Okaa-san... under the stones... please..." She begged and cried, making the older woman sad, looking at the helpless child.
"It's impossible for her to survive, kid." She just said, but helped her dig her mother up.
To her surprise, the woman was barely breathing, hut alive nonetheless. She opened her eyes, looking at her child one last time.
"Tsumiki, my lovely child. I am sad that I won't see you grow up. Be happy, my child." She gave the girl one last smile, before turning her head just a little bit and looking at her savior.
"Please, take care of my daughter, she is a good child..." She said and finally closed her eyes. Burdened by the words of that woman, she just hugged the girl and buried her face in her chest, as if shielding her from the harsh reality.
"Kaa-san!" She kept wailing her heart out, before she completely fell asleep.
The woman took her into her arms and walked out of the place, leaving the officers and her colleagues to deal with the aftermath of the situation.
"Gojo-san!..." someone called for her and she looked back with a harsh glare.
"I mean... erm... Fushiguro-san." He tried getting her attention once more.
"The executives told me to inform you about the payment. You can get it from this address." He said and handed her a piece of paper.
"I have long abandoned my surname. I am not a Gojo anymore." She coldly answered.
The guy repeatedly apologised as she ignored him and went her way.
Yukiko wasn't sure why she decided to take the child with her, but for some reason she couldn't leave this child behind. They got back to her house, but this time, she wasn't able to open the door with her keys, so she just knocked lightly kicked the door a couple of times.
"You will pay for the damages, if I see the door messed up in any way. Who is it?" An annoyed tone could be heard before the door was opened.
"Yuki-chan?" He asked, looking at the child in her hands questioningly.
"Care to explain?"
"Let me in first, we have to treat this little girl. She is fine, just got some scratches on her hands." She said, worried for the kid.
"I will bring the med kit." Toji immediately left to get the small bag of different medicine. He pulled out some band-aids and bandages, along with some alcohol for disinfecting the wounds.
"Get me one of my old shirts from my drawer too, please. She needs to get changed from these dirty clothes." She said and started tending to her scratches, carefully disinfecting then and applying band-aids.
"Here. So tell me what happened." Toji demanded some explanation from the woman.
"Her mother was one of the casualties. She asked me to take care of her. The girl cried herself to sleep and I was worried for her, so I took her with me. I think she doesn't have any other family." The woman explained, her eyes full of sympathy for the girl.
"You should have left her there. The clean up crew would have taken care of her. Your job is to exterminate curses, not picking up random children just because you feel sympathetic towards them." His icy tone made she girl shiver. She was astounded at his cold demeanor.
"She just lost her mother. She needed someone." She said, slightly hugging her and bringing her closer to herself.
"What is wrong with you? Do you have zero empathy?" She angrily answered, but realised the situation a little bit sooner.
She had a small girl, who didn't have any family or whatsoever. Her mother just died before her eyes, most likely scarring her and leaving her all alone in the world. The girl wouldn't just accept her decision to stay right away, but even if she did, she would have to go through a tough process of adoption, before officially joining her family. She already had a lot on her plate without a child. Toji most likely meant that.
"I am sorry, Toji-kun. I might have overreacted, but for some reason I don't want to leave her. It's not only because of her mother asking me to take care of her, but also because I want to give her a better childhood. If I can be of any help to someone. At least one person, I woukd be happy." She said with a sad smile that warmed Toji's heart.
"Okay, do whatever you want then..." He said and sat down next to her, observing every move that the woman does.
"You woukd have to go through an adoption process. First, we would have to give her to the child protection offices or a police station. Then they would have to make a background check to see if she has any relatives. Only after that, she will be put up for adoption and you would be able to adopt her." He informed her of the process.
"You are right. Let's wait until tomorrow then." She agreed with the man and took the child in her arms once again, entering her room.
"Toji-kun, please get sheets ready for her to sleep in." She asked him and began to change the girl in her shirt.
"Here." He said and stood in between the entrance to her room.
"Can I sleep in your room today?" She looked at his direction and saw him just give her a nod, before leaving to his room.
"Sleep well, Tsumiki." She said, gaving her a small goodnight forehead kiss and covering her with blankets.
As she left the room, she kept the door wide open, in case something happened and came to Toji's room. He was in the middle of changing. She noticed his toned chest and nicely built legs.
"You seem to be enjoying the view." He smirked.
"Who wouldn't?" She said and remembered to go and get her pyjamas from her room. As she did that, she quickly stripped down in the bathroom. After taking a long shower, she wore her pyjamas and went to bed next to her husband. As she laid there, Toji's arms seemed to have sneaked up to her and pulled her closer to him, hugging her from behind. The woman felt his bare chest coming in contact with her back and his hot breath in her neck.
She wasn't able to get a wink of sleep that night.
