April's pov:

I hand back Mya's phone and I smile at Chris. Then Nick and Matt came back.

Nick: "Okay we ordered the food, it should be coming in a little bit!"
Chris: "Yay!"

We got our food soon after, and overall had a great time together. We were talking and laughing and it was really fun.

At the parking lot...

April: "I think it's time for me and Mya to go home."
Nick: "Aww."
Mya: "Thanks for having us guys. We had so much fun!"
Chris: "No problem!"
Matt: "I'll see you on Saturday, April!"
April: "Bye, Matt!"

Me and Mya hop into her car.

April: "Today was so fun!"

Mya: "If it wasn't for me dragging you here, you would have never met up with Matt, so your welcome!"

April: "If it wasn't for me needing a dress for my date you would've never met Chris. So your welcome!"

We both laugh. Mya starts the car and drives out of the parking lot.

April: "Hey, can we stop by the hospital?"
Mya: "Yeah, of course!"

We arrive to the hospital and walk in. Then we both get a visitor pass...

Doctor: "April, it's good to see you!"
April: "What's up doc?"
Doctor: "I'm doing good, how are you?"
April: "I'm doing great."
Doctor: "I'm glad you're doing better!"
April: "Okay, I'll see you later!"
Doctor: "Bye!"

We then walk up to my dads room...

Mya: "Do you want me to come in with you?"
April: "Yeah, I could use a friend."

Mya's pov:

April opens the door and I see her dad. He was tied up in all this equipment. I could hear beeps from the monitor tracking his heart beat.

Oh. My. God.

April: "I know, it's scary at first."
Mya: "I'm terrified. I'm so sorry April."

I give her a hug.

April: "It's okay."
Mya: "How are you not freaking out?"
April: "Because I know my dads strong."

I let go of April and give her a smile.

Mya: "And he knows your strong too!"

She gives me a smile back. We both sit down...

April: "Hey dad, I'm with Mya!"

April looks at me...

Mya: "h-hey. It's me Mya!"

I go silent thinking of what to say...

Mya: "Uhh- remember that one time me and April built ginger bread house when we were little? Then we both pick up our gingerbread house to show you but I ended up dropping mine. I remember being so upset, but you took the time to help me build another one."

April smiles.

April: "Dad, do you remember when we used to have burger eating contests every Friday when I was little. I would always win and I felt bad that you never won. So one Friday I decided to eat my burger slowly to let you win."

I chuckle...

I then look down to see his fingers twitching.

Mya: "April! Look!"
April: "Oh my god!"

April holds her fathers hand. I wrap my arms around her.

Mya: "I think your father remembered winning his first ever burger eating contest!"

April laughs.

I have no idea how April can keep her emotions composed, but that's how she's always been. Strong and independent! I'm proud of her
