With the girls day a huge success, we arrived back at the apartment with everyone in a great mood. When we arrived, the guys were all sitting around the couch drinking beer, still playing video games as though they'd been there all day. They cheered as we walked in which was kind of funny and the girls went over and greeted their partners with kisses, hugs and smiles. That was my cue to head to the kitchen and put the wine in the fridge. In that moment, I wondered how it felt for Oli; having us come back and watching all of his friends be showered in love and affection. I wondered if he felt left out or sad given what the girls had said about him being scared to be alone. I guess Micky was single too, so it couldn't be that bad.
I was deep in thought about everything the girls had told me about Oli when I was interrupted by the man himself. "How was your day?" he asked, appearing at the bench and resting his forearms on it. I guess he'd probably ejected himself from the lovey-dovey, couples love-fest happening in the lounge as I had, lol.
"It was awesome." I said with a big smile. I really had enjoyed my day out with the girls.
"You know, the guys are all very curious as to what you girls got up to." he state with a laugh. "And what you were buying." he added. I laughed a little at their interest.
"Well Oliver..." I said in an animated voice. "That is for us to know and you to find out!" I laughed. I giggled at myself realising that I'd actually just called him 'Oliver'. "Drink?" I asked, taking a beer from the fridge and holding it out in front of him. "Are you trying to get me drunk?" He asked.
"Oh please, like you need my help doing that." I replied with an eye roll. He laughed with a huge smile and took the beer from my hand and disappeared back to the lounge room. God damn that smile. Our make-up lady was arriving at 5pm and she'd just sent a message to say she'd be there in about twenty minutes, so I called everyone to the kitchen to do a cheers to Emma and Jordan, for celebrating six years together. We popped the champagne and we raised our glasses. "Thank you all for so much love, we love you guys so much." she sweetly said to everyone. "And I want to say a special thank you to Joy, for organising our girls day today. We had so much fun and we're so excited for tonight!" she added smiling at me. I felt everyone look at me and I felt myself blush. It's not like I'd never been put on the spot or been the centre of attention before, but usually it was in a work environment... it wasn't people just enjoying being around the real me. "Thank you so much for letting me hang out and be part of your circle." I replied. Everyone raised their glasses and drank their champagne and I honestly felt so happy. I couldn't believe how perfect it felt standing there with these people that I'd only known for a few days. "You've made quite the impression." Jordan said to me, resting his arm on my shoulder with a smile. I felt a little shy, but happy at the same time. "I guess so." I said with a little laugh. He pushed his glass up against mine in a cheers and smiled.
"Joy!" Dani said, doing a weird little penguin-like walk around the bench before hugging me hard. "I'm so excited for tonight! I'm going to go upstairs and get ready for the make up lady!" she quipped. "OK, we'll be up soon." I said with amusement as she left. Seeing how excited she was to start getting ready made me excited too. "Make up lady?" Oli enquired, having overheard Dani. I just laughed.
"Nothing for you to worry about!" I said poking him lightly in the chest. "But your friends should probably prepare themselves, because their eyes are going to pop out of their heads tonight!" I said with a playful chuckle. He looked at me puzzled but smiling hugely. "You know, they absolutely love you." he said, referring to the girls. "Ohhh, wait a minute. I see what you're doing... you got the girls to love you, so now you're going for brownie points with the guys too. It all makes sense." he joked.
"Maybe..." I said as I sipped my wine and smiled. In that moment, my phone 'popped' and I knew who it would be. "Can you please help me let Macy in?" I asked Oli, reading her message that she was parking. He looked at me curiously as if asking me who she was. "She's the make up lady." I explained.
"Ah." he said with a nod. "I can't believe you got a make up lady." Oli said with a chuckle as I walked toward the lift. "Well, I just know her from a photo shoot." I said looking back at him as he followed me. "The girls seemed pretty excited about it and it was the least I could do since they have been so nice to me." I said as I pressed the ground floor button. "You're too sweet." he said softly with a little laugh. I shrugged. "I'm sure the guys will be extremely appreciative." he added. "Oh, they definitely will." I said pushing my champagne glass into his beer bottle.
