"Ahhhhhhh!"

Everyone flinches. That sounded like a bad one.

"To the waiting room, please," the nurse ushers our group out of the way. I can't blame her. There's a lot of us here. "This is going to take a while and we need to keep the hallway clear."

"Ten bucks says she's done within the hour," Dani whispers to me as we shuffle to the elevator and get in. "Ser's been drinking a lot of raspberry leaf tea. Supposedly it just slides the kid out."

I roll my eyes, waiting for the elevator to open so Dani can stop breathing down my neck. "Do you have a gambling problem? Enough."

"What? Everyone needs a side hustle in life."

"Your occupation as a real estate agent doesn't do well enough?"

"This is for my own personal entertainment. I like chaos."

"We can tell."

I sigh and lock eyes with Sawyer. He smiles softly and I return in, noticing he hasn't stopped looking at me once since Sav handed him those divorce papers. I wonder if he's thinking what I'm thinking; that we're finally free to be together.

He waggles his brows at me and mouths nice ass. I furrow my brows. That's random.

At least until Mason's entire body locks and he mutters, "Wrong ass, Mr. James."

Sawyer's face falls.

"That is so my bad," he apologizes and puts both hands in the air. A wry grin takes over his lips. "But honestly, you deserved it."

"My ass being groped by the likes of you?"

Dani and I fight to keep our laughter at bay.

"Sure," Sawyer chirped. "You saved my ass back there so I thought I'd show yours a little appreciation."

"I'd rather you didn't," he deadpans as soon as the elevators open and walks out. Sawyer's jaw drops.

"Motherfucker," he mutters under his breath.

"How did you know about Sav's tax fraud?" Dani inquires. We all take our seats in the waiting room and face him.

Mason is already going through emails on his phone and answers absentmindedly. "I pay Sawyer. I know what his taxes look like. Not once did I notice they included a dependant so when I found out he was married, it didn't add up. No way could he have hid his marriage if him and Sav were filed as married on their taxes."

"But how'd you get her to cough it up?" Sawyer asks. "I've asked to see her finances a million times to get them under control but she never let me."

Mason shakes his head like we don't know any better. "She's a narcissist, Mr. James. If you come after what she has, she'll play you. That's why you give her something even better and allow her to play herself."
